CENTEX HIGH SCHOOL FALL LEAGUE *** REGISTRATION OPEN***

by Adams » Mon Aug 25, 2008 8:29 pm

Texas Blaze Central Texas Fall High School Softball League

In an attempt to improve High School softball in the Central Texas area, we are putting together a fall High School League. The purpose of this league is to give local High School teams the chance to play together before the beginning of the 2009 season.

This year, the league will be played in Del Valle (Correction Fields) on three softball fields. At the current time, we intend to have approximately 12 teams participate in the league. In order to maximize the participation of the largest number of schools, we are at this time limiting each school to one entry. However, if there is interest from more than 12 teams, we hope to be able to add an additional evening (most likely Thursdays) and at that point we would permit the entry of more than one team from one high school. If you would like to enter two teams, please let us know so we can properly assess the interest for additional time slots.

This league is limited to teams formed around the players from one high school (or in special circumstances two schools). Select teams will not be allowed in this tournament. We are asking that each team playing have a pitcher with 16U or higher summer tournament softball experience. Each team will need to fill out a roster and provide parental signatures waiving liability for accidents that may arise during league games. This tournament will not provide liability or medical insurance for league play in order to keep the costs as low as possible.

The league will play Monday nights with games starting at 6:10 pm and 8:00 pm. We have a target start date of September 15th, and it will end the week of November 17th. Teams will have a bye during one week, and teams will play a doubleheader at least one of the weeks. Each game will be an hour and a half long, finish the batter or 7 innings. These games are practice games, so they can end in a tie.

Entry into the league is $425, plus a per game umpire fee of $30. There will be a minimum of 9 games each plus a single elimination tournament at the end of league play. We have made every attempt to keep the costs of this league down. With the high cost of field rental fees and field lights, as well as with the shortage of fields in the Austin area, the cities and counties can charge what they want. All entry fees collected will cover lights, field rentals, and field maintenance. All teams entered in this league will be given a discount of 50% to the Blaze’n into High School Softball Tournament to be played December 6-7 at Havins Fields on North Lamar.

As parents, we are aware that all of the girls are involved with other school activities and their studies. If a team shows up, and they are short a player, they can borrow a player from another team so the game can be played.

Space is limited and teams will be registered only upon receipt of payment. In order to register for this league, please email me at adampauladams@aol.com with the team name and contact information and send a check for $425 made out to Adam Adams at 309 McClendon, Elgin, TX 78621.
