103 teams, pool schedule already up, seems like they are on top of things there..

Any predictions on how the Texas teams will do?

Hope they have plenty of water, if the sun is out, it will easily hit 100+ regardless of the forecast.. Heat Index will make sure of that

They will. The Midland folks know how to run a tournament in the desert. They'll have plenty of water, ice, shade, and anything else to keep it cool(er).

It was in the 100's all week. There was a 15 to 20 knot wind blowing. For Florida kids, all we noticed was we drank alot of Gatorade and water and didn't sweat a lot. We drank more in Midland then we do in Central Florida. The Midland people did their best for what they had. They did all the field maintenance and watering that you'd expect. The brackets were updated. Met lots of great people, Power Surge 96, Scottsdale Fever, Warriors from Ft. Collins, Colorado, Utah, and a bunch of great coaches from Carolina Elite, Birmingham Thunderbolts, etc. Lots of manmade shade at the park, so that was good for the parents. Not the best motel, but we fundraised and it didn't cost anything, so we just made the best of it. The pool was nice.

Only Floridians could find a park with a stocked fishing pond in a state with severe drought and water restrictions. Typical Floridians, we fished the heck out of that pond. Kids loved it and the brats and burgers on the grill. It wasn't that bad. We were there to play softball (finished t. for 33rd) and we had a great time. Prairie dogs on the UTPB campus were a highlight. Barn Door had good steaks. You know, it could have been Tallahassee for all we knew, only about 8 degrees hotter. Congrats to Laser's Gold, the Georgia teams and the city of Midland for putting on a great show. Next summer is Montgomery, Alabama.

Typical traveling with our kids to play softball. I wouldn't trade the experience for all the tea in China. And yes, it was my first nationals. I'm new to it.

I agree everything was done very well. Our team stayed in the Midland College Dorms and it was a blast. The weather was hot but what the heck I am from the San Fernando Valley, where it is almost as hot. The only real bummer was the dust that would blow in on fields 8 & 9.

I will say that the level of cometition was very strong. Did'nt really see any real bad teams.
For the most part the top teams at Midland can compete with anyone.

Mustangs, Impact & Fury are legit.

Carolina Elte has a pitcher that is the real deal. (mid 60's with decent movement.)

There were some College recruiters there

I met, Oregon, Georgia, UCF & OSU & saw other walking around.
