What is going on with the Top Central Texas "Club" Teams.
The Austin Storm organization, from what I heard in Dallas last weekend is falling apart. Last year at a qualifier they had a great 16U team. I checked there web site and they have 5 players on their roster.
The Stix have been very competative over the years, and they had showed up with a few very good Gold teams. What is going on with their younger teams. I have not seen them around at any tournaments.
The Blaze has only been playing local, and I hear that they have been struggling.
The Bombers, I do not think that have a Gold. They have had a very talented young program.
As a State we need all top Clubs to produce so all of our girls get good looks.

I am an avid fastpitch fan and keep up with these teams...so here you go.
AUSTIN STORM - Storm has a very solid "Gold" team, however they are called Storm Blue. They have two great pitchers and are pretty decent defensively. Offense is not super strong but over-all, one of the better teams in Central Texas. They have a shot at Gold Nationals.
Other than Blue, the Storm is struggling to keep players, so I don't know what's happening but hopefully they will get there org. where they want it to be.
TEXAS STIX GOLD - The Stix is bringing a solid Gold team to tournaments this summer, the have pitching ace Brittany Mack (LSU) who hopes to lead them to a Gold bid. Although, besides Mack I don't know if they will be as strong as last year...but they should make a run. They always do a great job putting good, well coached teams on the field in the central Texas area.
STIX also have a very strong 14u Myrick team, from there, I'm not really sure, they have a second Gold ATX team but they have not made much noise yet.
RR BLAZE GOLD -
BLAZE has several strong younger teams, look for 16u Prinzo to qualify for ASA A Nationals as well as 12u Kirk.
BOMBERS - You are right, they do not have a gold team, but in a year or so look for a strong showing from Scott's 16u team. I'm sure 16u Bombers will make ASA Nationals for 2008.
TEXAS COMETS GOLD - I noticed you did not mention them most likely because this is their first year to register Gold. This team is solid and if they can put some things together they might surprise some people.
COMETS - don't know if they have any strong younger teams?
ASA GOLD NATIONALS - I don't believe a CT team has ever made it to the "Big Dance" but I think 2008 could change that. CT has a shot with three teams this season...Storm, Stix, & Blaze.

The Stix 16U National and 18U gold have just began to play. 95% of thier roster was out due to high school playoffs. I have a pretty good feeling the Blaze have had the same issue.
It may be my biased opinion but the Stix 14U National team is one of the best 14U in the Cental Texas area. They also have a 95 team that is not that far behind the Blaze 95 team.
The Storm is struggling for pitching right now on their 14U team, but they have quit possibly one of the best coaches in the state of Texas (phil). It will not be long before he has them competing at a high level again.
Give some of these 16 and 18U teams some time and you will see them back out in the metroplex and Houston area soon.

The Storm The Storm has been making a steady decline in talent over the last few years! The Storm Gold team is as good as any around! But their younger teams just do not have the talent that the other top programs in the Centex have.
The Stix The Stix program has been solid for a very long time and seem to be able to hang on to its best players...They have a shot to do well and qualify to go to OKC.
These next two programs are the main reason that programs like the Hearts of Texas are gone and the Storm seems to be on a downward slide. They have both grown and have built a solid program that will be producing the top talent in in the Centex for years! What seems to be very nice to see is that they seem to get along and and have mutual respect for one another!
The Blaze The Blaze Gold team probobly has the best chance of any in the centex to get to OKC. Their younger teams as well are a weekly mainstay in many Championship games in any age division! The coaching is very good no matter what team you talk about!
The Bombers The Bombers do not have a Gold team yet...but like the poster before said..give it a year and watch out for the Bombers-Black team (Scott's Team) , that team is nasty good and will be a team you have to say will have a very good shot at OKC next year! I know you guys over in Central Texas don't travel much, but neither of the teams you have named have ANY chance of qualifying for 18u Gold this year or next. There is some superb talent on these teams, but neither has the depth of talent to get to OKC. You clearly have not seen the Glory Gold, Storm, Aces, Hawks, Heat, Impact Gold, Eclipse. Dream the dream, but don't be booking any hotel rooms.

Since you seem to be the all knowing about the 18U all over the state of Texas will you please look into your crystal ball and tell me who will win the 18U Gold Nationals?
My other question would be how many times times have you seen these 18U Gold listed play this year? How do you know how deep they are or what they have?

The answer to that question would be zero times because no Gold team has played yet this year. Ask me about last year, and the year before that, and the year before that, and the year before that . . . Why does Central Texas have such a HUGE chip on its shoulder. The teams I listed have been qualifying for Gold Nationals for years. No Central Texas team has EVER qualified as far as I know. It's why most of your top talent leaves Central Texas to play with Houston-area Gold teams year after year. This year could be different because the RR Blaze have a great pitcher who signed and chose to stay home (who did she play with before the Blaze?) this summer. She can take her team to the dance. But I wouldn't buy a dress just yet. Another year of two of 9th place finishes and then it might be your turn.

The committed Blaze pitcher (Ashley) has been with the Blaze ever since I can remember seeing them play, and I saw them when they were a young 14u team. maybe you are referring to the Stix pitcher (Brittany), she played one year for the Power, before that she played with the Texas Comets I believe. Anyways, hopefully a CT team will make it happen in the next couple of years.
