10U pitching

Has anyone ever been to a tryout and your dd has to throw 11 strikes out of 15 pitches to be considered as a pitcher?

there is something about percentage of strikes thrown versus balls thrown, but at 10U? hmmm...

For a strike? I'd rather have a pitcher throw balls that a batter will swing at and miss then throw all strikes. Especially in 10U some pitchers dont have good control and many batters will swing at pitches that arent strikes.

agreed, you are not going to throw it right down the middle, especially if you know its a big hitter. most girls strike out on off speed pitches and ones they chase. inside / outside change up, at this stage of the game. Here is something to think about, so the girl can throw 11 of 15 strikes... but that is throwing to someone at a tryout. what happens when you put a batter in front of her? now she has pressure..

Wonder if the same Blue that called the try out will call all the teams games? Ive seen a lot of different strike zones with different Blues and one of the things I have tried to teach DD is to adjust pitching to the Blues liking.

I took my dd to a tryout down here in houston. Never before have i been to a tryout and seen or heard of that philosphy. Mind you that i've been around the game for a while. My same thought was like yours dallas but this know it all coach has a different view.
