Lets see how everyone matches up. I may have let off teams and I'm sorry but I do not know the teams from the South very well. I guess I am to new to 12U but this is for fun. I did see Sneaky Cleats, Thunder '95, and 95 Glory (Gray) this weekend and all I can say is WOW!

Spring Sting and Velocity from the Houston area are pretty good......could have drawn a few votes.....but I understand people haven't seen everyone play.

It is very difficult to pick the top teams in any age division because it is rare to have a tournament with all the top teams. Even in in the Bomber tournament some teams did not play and some others played up. You wont see all the top teams at a state tournament either because some will play ASA some play USFA some will play USSSA and there is a few others. With that disclaimer I will give my .02

Top N. TX
95 Glory and 95 Travelers tie for top honor. Either team can beat the other on a given day. These 2 will be at the top of any 12U and many 14U tournaments they play in. Many other top teams teams but these are the best. Elite, Batbusters Rhine and Sneaky Cleats are very good but not the best.

Top S. TX
Velocity. Again many other tough teams but not as strong top to bottom as the Velocity. Sting and Crossfire are good but not up to the standards of the Velocity. TPS is not the team of old and may never recover. They lost a big chunk of their power and have not been impressive so far in 08.

Top Central TX
RR Blaze Red is the team to beat. Stix,Bombers,Storm and Flamethrowers are all capable of having a big game but not able to dominate week after week.

Also have to mention the Anderson Express as a top contender.

Thanks Play4fun for recognizing the 12U.

I think you hit it right on the head with this one. 95 Glory and the 95 Travelers are the top 12 U teams in North Texas. On any given day they can beat each other the outcome is always who makes the most errors. As for the others I have only seen the Round Rock Blaze and they are right behind those two teams.

Have the Travelers ever beat 95 Glory? Just a question because when I looked it up on the VTD I could not find anything. I know teams change so I was just curious.

I'm not sure about the teams from the north or from Central Texas, but from the South...(in particular) the Houston/Gulf Coast area here are the top teams in no particular order....
1) FORT BEND KAOS
2) PEARLAND PHANTOMZ
3) HUMBLE COBRAS
4) SPRING KLINE VELOCITY
5) SPRING STING

Of course, I'm a little biased being one of the coaches of the Cobras, but I will say that we've placed 1st 4 times and brought home "hardware" or "placed" 10 times out of 11. I feel pretty confident in my kudos considering we've played in 88 games since September and have faced 39 new teams in bracket play....beating 32 of them. We've also beaten the Styx out of Austin, and the Bombers out of New Braunfels, along with the Crossfire repeatedly who received a little love from someone. Others worth mentioning down South are the Peppers, the Texas Sting, the Crossfire, the Impact, the Aces....and even TPS...if they can get a team together.

My vote goes to the 95 Texas Glory. This team consistently places in the Top 14U tournaments has great defense and excellent team speed. 95 Texas Travelers are a strong team and should compete with anybody, but when it comes down to it Glory has been on that stage before and should be able to handle the pressure.

Your assessment of the Texas Areas are pretty impressive and there would be others who would argue for their teams................but, I for one agree with you.
All the top teams that are mentioned are listed to play in Ft. Worth (HOF qualifer) that tournament should be fun one to watch. It probably will be one of the only tournaments that you will see all these teams together in one tournament, partly because some of the teams will play in their ASA metro qualifers, while the others will have to qualify at ASA State. Then off to Regoinals for the final berths.
The only team not listed at the HOF qualifer is Velocity and their tendency is to play in Florida as with most (not all, TPS,MC Kaos, MC Majic, are other teams we usually see interested in ASA Nationals) of the teams in the Houston area.
95 Glory and RR Blaze 95 were the only two teams that attended ASA 12u Nationals from Texas as first year 12u teams, though that tournament was stacked with solid 2nd year 12u CA teams, they both should have gained good experience by making the trip to Roseville.
The 95 Travelers are solid and were at the Bomber tournament (played 14u) but from what I was told were put out by the 95 Blaze (can anyone confirm). Even so, it was too early in the season to assess either team from those results.
TPS is probably going thru what Groove 95 went thru............hopefully they can regroup and make a run like both teams did 2 years ago. Spring Sting is a very solid Team, place second in Ronald McDonald last fall.Though there were teams from other areas, mostly Houston teams played, with no top DFW teams playing.

There are a lot of "sneaky" good teams that may not be dominant week to week but can sneak a good win on any top team, in any given tournament (Elite, Glory (grey), Batbusters) and some solid 96 teams that may surprise some people (Aces, Sweet Gold, Diamonds).

The RR blaze did beat the travelers at the bomber tourney. It was early in the season but lets see how they both improve over the season. I do agree the Glory has been on that stage often and should do very well this year as always. The Travelers did beat 95 Glory last year but as they always say thats why they play the game. The HOF Tourney should be very telling about who can handle the pressure of the big games, because the top 4-5 teams are very close in talent.
