This weekend in DFW

by texdocbay » Thu Apr 15, 2010 4:02 pm

Things are getting heated up for NRH this weekend. Sun Devils replaced in Pool B by Dbat(mul). That should make that pool with Glory and Elite and others very exciting.

I noticed that NRH did a trial run on the new pool seeding for its 10U tourney for next weekend. I would say that for the most part it was successful. A few of the seedings are off but not a lot can be done about it. This will make for more evenly balanced pools and should give you what you are looking for in the single elim. bracket.

I agree, knucklecurve, that some of the seedings were a bit off, but the important thing for this format is getting at least the top 4 correct if you only have 4 pools, and I think that was accomplished. As far as the rest of us, we've got our work cut out for us to get a chance at bracket play. I would still like to see some type of wild card system to advance more teams to bracket, but I know that the logistics of that would be difficult, also. I just hope the weather lets up, and we get to play ball!

Pool A

Bombers should sweep this one up with no problem

Pool B

Team Mizuno is the team to beat here

Pool C

D-Bat (Black Sox)
Southern Edge would like to fashion an upset in this group.

Pool D

Should be the Roughriders, with a push from the Bad Girlz.

As we all know, they are 10 and anything could happen in any pool, but I went with the safe picks.

I just hope the bad weather stays away toward the end of the week. The 10U event in NRH could generate some note worthy match-ups. They have the big teams playing each other during non-seed pool play which will make for some fun spectating.

I suppose I would like to see Bombers/Mizuno or Bombers/Rough Riders. Great matchup possibilities either way in this one. Glad to see 10U finally start to get rolling for real. 14U Irving/16U Keller look to have some great matchups as well.

Starting to look promising. 30% for Friday only. Hopefully it rains light and early.

16u Keller is interesting. I know some of the teams will have their high school players back and that will radically change performance. I am wanting to see how the 43ft thing effects the play as well. I noticed some bracket shuffling after the first bracket post for southlake. One team went from Pool A to Pool C. Interesting that the final games start at 615 pm on Sunday. Keller was looking at some Friday night play since they are running two age groups and two fields have to convert to 43ft for the 16 u.

I too noticed the change in pools out at Southlake. HMMM! I too find it very interesting they have final games starting at 6:15 on Sunday. Whew, they just barely made it under that self-imposed deadline of 6:30 they so much like to brag about. Fiddlesticks!!! I got caught looking up VTD tournaments in Tarrant County again.
