This should be a good one. With everyone out of HS ball now, hopefully we'll see the true strength of a lot of teams.

Welcome HillGuy.... but um.... not everyone is out of HS ball. We have 1 player headed to Austin wednesday for State!! I'm sure a few other teams could have 1 or 2 still out also. But you are correct, alot more HS'ers are out and in the "hot" dirt now.

Double T - I couldn't agree with you more.

Thanks for the welcome....Yeah a little quick with that "everyone", but heck of a lot better than two weeks ago. Glad we're local with a late Friday game. Good luck to all. Great kickoff to summer I hope.

I think that it is ridiculous to email coaches three days before tournament to tell them that you are now changing the format of the tournament due to field reservations. If this is what you have to do then you then need to take into account that many teams are driving in and have already made hotel and travel arrangements to be there Sat. mourning not Friday night. Beings we had the option to opt out of the Friday night pool games from the very moment this tournament was posted months ago. A lot of the teams participating in this tournament have young ladies still in school with finals on the last day. Surely the tournament director is smart enough to figure these things out before scheduling a team to play at 7 p m Friday knowing they cannot make that time, and has been notified of that, through email, phone messages and the tournament entry form, with NO response back from him. This behavior is un-acceptable in my view, and I will certainly be reporting these actions to the main ASA governing body.

While I feel for your frustration, I can't help to think about all the rest of the teams that are traveling to this tournament. I am sure other teams have a certain percent of players in the same school as some of your players. Most schools last day is on Thur. while a few of them have early dismissal on Fri. You are talking about a 4 hour trip. Why is that a problem for 1 team?
Some teams are traveling from Tyler and McKinney which is a lot farther. I believe e-mails were sent out a couple of days ago (not today) informing all that there would be no pool games.I guess I don't get what your problem is :D Are you wanting a re-draw to accommodate your team? Sorry, but can't see that happening in a National Qualifier :D There are 27 teams all in the same situation, starting bracket from the time they hit the dirt. Good luck to your team and to the other 27 or so teams.

I never once said I wanted to re-draw the bracket we will play whoever is in-front of us. The point I was making which you did not pick-up on, is that this is an ASA NATIONAL QUALIFIER and yet the TD does not even have the fields to play the tournament under its original format, that is bush league... The email that you are refering to was sent out yesterday afternoon which gives us three days to make arrangements to be in Humble, TX a day earlier than expected. That means people taking off of work if they can on that short of notice, players having to try to make arrangements to either skip the last day of school or reschedule tests, ect. You can take it however you want, but it would not be hard for the TD to re-arrange some of the game times to give the out of town teams more time to get there on Friday.

Did all you teams that are traveling ask your players to skip school so you could make it to a tournament? Or did you all plan ahead to drive in on Sat., go straight to the fields, and play possibly all day :D

I can't speak on behalf of every team, but our plans were to drive in after school and work on Friday night. We have planned to play all day Sat. if needed, done that before, we did not plan to play on Friday night, our team had opted out of the Friday night pool games. Like I said, that was just our plans...

I would like to thank the TD for making the time adjustments to allow us to be able to play without forfeiting our first game. I would also like to thank Deer Park TPS, GT Shockers and Texas Peppers for their willingness to change their game times to allow us this opportunity. We look forward to playing against some great teams this weekend. Again, thanks to all…

It seems the answer to the question is "Nobody"

We aught to have a moment of silence for all the good teams mentioned on this thread that are now history. I can't believe the shake up in 14U, especially with the '95's.

Unbelievable!
