I believe he means for 14U teams playing in a tournament. His reference to playing up, I believe, comes from 14U teams playing up in 16 and 18U tournaments. Since there are no 16/18U tournaments during the spring, the top 14U teams from all over the state could get together and play.

I believe we have such a tournament in place already do we not?
March 16th - 18th 14ULouisville Slugger Bomber Shootout. I know its no Ronald McDonald but its a 96 team tournament centrally located between North and South Texas. Will not the top performers here be considered the best teams in the state. I believe this could be a preview to the HOF qualifier held in Houston later this year.

It used to be. We stopped going as it became a money maker for the host and teams were thrown around to crappy fields all for the sake of taking as many teams as possible. In my opinion, the stronger teams would rather play other stronger teams in a more competitive atmosphere.

The Bomber Shootout is still the best collection of talented teams early in the season in 10U, 12U and 14U. For those not aware the Bombers organization donates a percentage of the entry fees to the American Cancer Society to fight breast cancer. I would encourage ALL teams who feel they are of elite status to attend. The 12's will be playing at Huber Ranch (new home of the Texas Bombers) which is one of the top facilities in Texas.

The biggest state tournament in the fall is the Ronald McDonald. The 14U order of finish was

1. Sudden Impact - Davis
2. Impact Gold - McBride
3. Mojo
4. OK. Gametime Stars

In my opinion the Bomber Shootout has always been a big tournament drawing a lot of teams but the top teams from Houston have not been participating in it over the past few years. I think the economy and funds required or HOF/Colorado/ASA trips have teams deciding not to travel early.

Yeah some crazy SOB  who wanted to get back home before 2:00 AM in the morning for his kids to go back to school after Spring break!! This tournament could be the best tournament of the year because it is centrally located but the fields are horrible. The only good complex is the new one at Huber Ranch. But it only has 4 fields and not everyone can play on those fields. The Bombers do a great job with what they have.
