WOW! It is not even spring and the circle jerk has started. Now all that is left is to see which 12-U parent will emerge as the pivot man!

First two letters easy to figure...for those of us less educated in gutter talk what does T.I.L.B stand for?

Don't strain your "purest of thoughts little brain" Mr. Bring It- all the important people, a.k.a. team hoppers, know the meaning.

"Purest of Thoughts Little Brain"...ouch! Got me with that one! I don't think I have been insulted that badly since say...Junior High.

When you want to have a real discussion about softball with someone that has a college degree, then look up this "purest of thoughts little brain". Otherwise, my future discussions will be with the "important people" that can actually carry on a half-way intelligent discussion regarding softball. In the meantime I am sure you can enjoy a great conversation with some kid in a high school bathroom while you write little sayings on the stall wall!

The whole idea is SG because most of the "established" teams have new faces every season :o which is not any different than a start up team.

I don't think anyone was trying to slam any certain teams. It is a matter of fact that alot of the teams will not make it. It happens every year. My statement to figrnitout, if that's who you are referring to as being slammed, was my opinion on what he/she said. I do not even know what team he/she is with and it really doesn't matter.
Parents who are team jumpers are problems with teams, riding thru hard start up times and making it, because they are too impatience and want immediate results. Immediate results do not always happen with new teams and parents have to give them time to mature and not just jump ship.

I will say that if my words were thought to be directed at any certain teams, I am sorry for that. But I am not sorry for my stand on team jumpers. The sport I love and respect, Softball, does not need them, they cause too many problems. Let them do some other sport and leave Softball alone.

Tex- You are a huge hypocrite!! Your team is full of team jumpers, and a lot of them quit their teams mid season. Some even promised to help coach teams but left for your team. What you really mean to say is you are ok with team jumpers as long as they are jumping from Lady Stros, Panthers, Peppers, Ice or other teams to yours, but what really irks you are the team jumpers that leave your team for others. You can't have it both ways!!

Did I say I was okay with any team jumpers ??? I don't believe so.
I think you had better check your facts alot closer before you make accusations toward a team that you know little, if any, about.

Houston Fastpitch:

Perhaps you should be better informed before calling out people from teams for jumping! My name is Jerry Cates (Just A Dad on Fastpitchdirt.com). I am a former coach with Texas Ice 97, and my daughter was the former starting 2nd baseman.

Fact: My daughter was a 98 (May 1998 birthday) playing up on a very strong 97 team.

Fact: Had Texas Ice 97 stayed together they were going to play a lot of 16U ball...Although I felt my daughter could handle the defensive aspects at this level, I was not sure my daughter was ready for this big of a jump with the bat.

Fact: Regardless of this, we attended the Ice 97 tryout of which only 5 (including current Ice players) were in attendance. We already knew we had lost 2 after Nationals. We knew that day we were losing others, although at the time we did not know how many.

Fact: Based on the previous facts, I elected to attend the TPS 98 tryout.

Fact: I did not make the decision to move to TPS 98 because of any negative feelings about Ice 97. I had decided, regardless of whether we had stayed with Texas Ice 97, that I was ready to discontinue coaching for no other reason other than I was tired of coaching and wanted others to work with my daughter.

[b]Fact:[b] I care deeply about the Ice players and even went to Southbelt to watch them play on their 16U team this past weekend.

Before you go calling out players and parents you might want to know the facts. I elected to have my daughter stay at 12U for her development...nothing more. Having played in a few tourneys this fall with TPS 98 I know I made the right choice no matter how difficult it was to make. If that displeases you, I really don't care.

I don't think I could be classified to as a team jumper. Played with Stampede in Baytown for two plus years until they broke up. Still get along very well with the former manager who is now with the Aces Express.

When Stampede broke up DD went to Ice 97 and played for there for three years. Still get along very well with the manager, and went and watched his daughter play at Southbelt last Staurday. Only reason for moving to current team was clearly stated above and I do not think anyone would classify our move as a negative "team jumper" style of move. It was simply so that DD could play with her age group for the first time in five years, and work on her hitting because I did not feel she was ready for the 16U level where Ice 97 would be playing. Again, not exactly the definition of a "team jumper".

I think anyone not trying to stir up trouble and promote their team would understand that the term "team jumper" is meant to define someone who habitually changes teams, or does so during mid-season. They also tend in a lot of cases to have parents who stir up trouble with the parents and coaches of the team in which they are currently playing.

That said, if you want to call me a team jumper go for it. I'll put my reputation up against anyones when it comes to team loyalty.

I don’t think anyone specifically singled you out Jerry so no need to defend yourself. I think you loyalty to the ice speaks volumes. Everyone has their reasons for staying on a team or moving on. Those reasons can be justified in the eye of player/parents doing it, doesn’t really matter to me either. This is 12u softball development of the kids and positive promotion of the sport should be top priority.

I thought this topic was about the RM somewhere it got off track. I will have to go back thru it and see who stirred all this up, was it hot box again
