Sorry I wasn't clear....I completely agree with playing up. Our team plays up and will continue to play up throughout the season. My point was to the ppl saying that a win at this tournament will give them bragging rights. We are more focused on preparing our team for the big picture which is HOF and Nationals. But I guess everyone's goals are different! Don't get me wrong we always want to win but we also play these tournaments to prepare our team.

This tournament only gives you bragging rights until the following weekend.

I don't understand why some people get so mad when teams play up. I would rater play up and face some good competition then play a tournament against 6 teams that you have regularly beaten 10 - 0.

For years teams have played up weather its a 16U team playing 18u, 14u playing 16 or weather its a 12u team playing up at 14u.

It seams like people take it personally when the red hots play up like they are deliberately not wanting to play you or saying your not good enough. I didn't hear one thing about the 97 Sudden Impact or 97 Heat who played up this past weekend and both did very well, but when its the Red Hots playing up Oh GOD.

I'm not a Red Hot parent not even from that side of town but that is how it looks to me

If this Tournament doesn’t provide any swagger or mean anything then why play it? We should all just practice up for the RM since you say it’s the only important one. Wait a second the Red Hots are going so it must be good enough for them.

Diamondgal- The more "W"'s these girls get at the local tourney's the more confident they will be for the ones that count. Confidence is big for a 12 year old kid.

I did not say the Burroughs tourney did not mean anything. I said I thought the RM carried more weight. I stand by that opinion. Does that mean the Burroughs tourney is unimportant? No way. I simply think the RM is better overall and I feel the winner of that tourney will have more swagger for two reasons...it is later in the fall, and the teams are typically stronger. Win that one and you deserve the bragging rights going into the Spring.
