You hear rumblings among parents and coaches that many top ranked programs in Houston are using more dirty tactics during their games this year. Fake falls by runners off the bag to draw throws and score other runners, coaches yelling "run, run" when their players on not batting and runners are on during a fly, and way over the top excessive celebrations by the entire team when they are ahead to kill time. Apparent some coaches teach 2B to make a move toward a runner on 1 with the ball in the outfield to slow down the runner. The penalty if caught with interference is about the same as a fast runner would get by being on 3rd. With all that talent, you think they wouldnt need to do this. But then again, there are some travel clubs in Houston and Dallas that practice those things. And, Bellicek did it with the Patriots and Cofflin had Giants players fake injuried to slow a game down. I guess the pressure to win pushes coaches over the edge. SAD in my opinion. i would love to be a fly on the wall when players are instructed on how to execute those plays in practice. In all my watching of D1 ball, I have not seen any college coaches doing those things.
