by Luv-the-Game » Mon Apr 21, 2008 7:31 am

Congrats to Fusion (Sidwell), Glory (Elliott) and 95 Travelers. There was some very impressive games on Sunday. I want to give some love to the pitcher from Fusion (Sidwell), I am not sure her name, she is blonde, very pretty and can bring it. GREAT PITCHING!!!!
Also, I would like to say i am very impressed with the 95 Travelers, these girls never gave up and played some impressive softball. They hung with all the great 14U "A" teams. GREAT JOB!!!!

Southlake.......well done, great format!!

Can't wait for the next tourney, this was a great weekend of softball!!!! :)

On a earlier post regarding the Keller tournament play4fun stated the 94 Batbusters are making their way back on top and could have easily beat the Travelers if they had been given the chance. In the Southlake tournament the Travelers beat the 94 Batbusters 4-0.As I stated in earlier posts that is why we play the game.No disrespect to the batbusters they are a great team and going through a few problems early in the season. The next time the Batbusters play the Traveles they may indeed win easily or the Travelers may win,who can predict.Guess what thats is why we play the game.

I completely agree. Great tournament and solid play by those teams who placed. Fields were in great shape and umpire crews were very good. Fusion is a very athletic team with great fundamentals. Big and fast, smart players; they are fun to watch. Really liked the tournament format, also. Every game was important, from Friday to Sunday. Nice job Southlake!

Boy, you can tell who are the Traveler parents on this board and how proud you are of your team.

Congrats on doing so well this weekend.

I will say the same thing that I also said in another post.............

I like the pool format but to take the top 4 teams from each pool and then have a single elimation bracket is tough. This eliminated some of the top teams early without the chance to battle back.

For instance, some how Fusion(Sidwell) and 94 Glory ended up playing each other very early even though they were in the same pool. (Fusion beat Glory and sent them home.)They should have been placed on opposite ends of the bracket. If 94 Glory had been given the chance to battle back then they probably would have placed.

If they are going to continue doing this format then they need to adjust it some more or stop giving trophies and consider it a "FRIENDLY" because this is not a true test of the ..... the best on top.

The format is the same as that used in the NCAA basketball tournament. Seeding is based on play from the season. Sometimes a team benefits from playing close to home but might play tougher teams. Others might get lucky and have better matchups but be farther from home. Often teams from the same conference will play each other somewhere before the final four.

Gusting winds during some at-bats turned some routine fly balls that should have been outs into base hits that fell untouched. That's life. Fusion deserved the win; they beat everyone they played. Would they beat everyone in the field 10 times out of 10? Probably not. 94 Glory had their shot, just like Glory Elliott and Travelers. 94G is a good team, they will take home their share of the $7 hardware.

I guess play4fun didn't see texas heat (Doizer) give away their game to 94 Glory. No disrespect to 94 Glory they are a great team but they had their chance just like everybody else. This just was not their weekend hey happens to everybody sooner or later. This format placed you based on your play within your pool what could be more fair than that (play good get seeded good, play fair get seeded fair, play bad go home).
