Coaches Need to Teach More than X's and O's

by TexasSoftball » Tue Nov 29, 2011 6:17 am

Not sure why you guys are thinking you have such a great idea. All the teams but about the two that are complaining have been playing together in tournaments several times this fall, but a couple must have thought they could only play the best and play ASA, not VTD. And now that they are claiming that everyone is not including them in the Top Picks, they all of the sudden want attention. Funny how you thrive on attention. ;) ;)

At nationals which is in aug that is summer not spring .Any way not hear to worry about trash talk say what you want to .Devine has Keist park 3/31 to 4/1 210 fee 30 dollars at the plate. Not in the best of areas but a nice park .Play their twice so far no problems. And those fields can hold any size tournament out there. Any comments

Yes, comments...

Why dont dave do it their for ump fees only? Why the $210 in his pocket? Keister Park? Idn't that wear you could get shot in the keister? Is it safe after dark and will dave have the rent a cops available if we play their? Can those fields hold any size tournament out there? We can be interested with more information. What do you think?

Kiest held the the 12 and 14u HOF Quailfier last year .I think it has 7 fields .We play there twice last year really had no problems. It is no worst then some of the places we have play in Houston. But the Fields are in better shape then what we play on in Houston.Like I said not a good area. But alot of nice fields.some better then others .This is a Idea please get another and lets play .This date is early enough for us to set the format and everything. And we can tell him 375 like vtd standard price. What ever lets get it done.Find another TD that will do it someone ask .

Let's Play Two wrote:And...TexasSoftball missed my point.

Everybody up here in NTX is so worried about VTD while Houston and CA just laugh at it. That's why Houston and Cali continue to crush us in ASA. My point is theses are the top teams you want to play for if you want to be the top dog in VTD.

Like justa said before, VTD is for practice and ASA is where the big boys come to play in Houston and Cali. Parents want ribbons next to their team on their VTD website you start with Rhine's team and go from there.

lets play two...knowledge for free...teams must start local, teams must win local, here in NTX ASA doesn't make, period end of story...if you slap ASA, VTD, USSSA or USFA label on it, doesn't matter <-this is real talk...you must win locally first. Anywhere, any city, any team...the rule of thumb is to win locally first, once you beat everyone locally you begin to travel to surrounding cities, once you beat surrounding teams you then travel farther and farther for tougher competition. No one up north is worried about VTD and could give two craps about houston or cali...period. Every coach who is worth a darn knows the rules...win locally first then win in other cities, states...etc. The ONLY problem that NTX has is most coaches aren't worth a darn, coaches spring up like weeds and then move on. So NTX doesn't compete well in nationals because they are NOT following the simplest of rules: win locally first, once you beat everyone locally you begin to travel to surrounding cities, once you beat surrounding teams you then travel farther and farther for tougher competition. Not because of ASA vs VTD...

Interesting...

I was wandering...has the keister ever hosted any tournamence of importance? I haven't played their but herd about it before. You said it has 7 fields but what kind of shape are they in? Do you think dave would do it for $375 like the VTD? I think we could be interested in making this happen. What about a January tournament? What do you think?

Pbj the god of all softball in NTX. Thanks for the free advise :?

If you look at Allen's VTD record, Rip's Record, Firecrackers VTD record before this year as you know they were playing up to get ready for ASA Nationals they did it the right way. Win local then travel.

Your Glory teams that you support so much do the same thing. Play local, win then dissappear/travel. That's how my daughters team did it last year.

I'm sure these teams will play all 14U next year leading up to Nationals due to high school ball and the pitching distance. 14U til now will be 40'. Then we will see how these teams fair again trying to win local.

Although I believe, winning local is a false sense of an accomplishment, fools gold if you will. Look at his year's VTD records. And Rhines although a great team, no disrespect to his team and young ladies but they have the best VTD record of all '98 teams but tell where were they when the out teams came in for qualifiers, sent home to prepare for the VTD world series.

Now Firecrackers, Allen, Rip, Fireballs had the worst VTD records this year in that order I believe but where were they in August? Didn't Firecrackers place 9th in the country? Seriously how many teams here can say they played at the Hall of Fame qualifier at Hall of Stadium? Rip, Allen and Firecrackers will never forget that feeling. And yes ride 9th place to the grave because that in itself was a great accompishment.

Ooouuutttt!!!! :ugeek:
