Fastpitchfanatic:
Glad to hear it. All I am arguing for is for adults to protect the safety of the girls playing this game. I don't care how good of a fielder a girl is, how good she can hit her spots, or any other point people like to bring up regarding this game. The one mistake can provide lifetime damage to the child. I know as a parent I would NEVER want to be the one responsible for making a decision that resulted in my DD having a major injury when such an inexpensive alternative was available to pretect her. No game is worth it.
Spaz:
I simply acknowledged your right to parent your child as you desire and the decisions you have made. I also provided my hope that she is never injured as a result of your decision.

If you are going to bring up the college point then you might bring in the statistic that a very limited amount of those who play fastpitch softball actually make it to that level of play.
I have seen no indication that the Rip It mask has hindered the ability to make plays. The older masks might have, but these do not hinder vision and are very light to wear. And it seems that I remember seeing the mask making its way onto the college level on a few players last year. If a player at that level can play with the mask, and she probably did not have the Rip It mask available until later in her high school career, then I am sure the younger girls wearing them today will be fine.
