Storm Elite RR w/ Championship rounds!!!

by Ray Vaughn » Sun Apr 25, 2010 8:08 pm

Hey Mark.....Ray here.....for those people that don't know.... I'm the head coach of the Storm Elite '97. I have purposely stayed away from posting on these boards because I never want to say anything that reflects negatively on my parents, team or organization....but I do read. I think you would be hard pressed to find any player, parent or coach that I haven't treated with CLASS. See....everyone on the site knows exactly who you are...no bashing necessary. Everyone knows that it's an EXCUSE to point out the plays made by the player we picked up "due to injury"...even when you wrap it in "not to take anything away from the Storm Elite". For the record......the person that does my lineup made a mistake......I didn't whine.......we played ball........that's CLASS. I didn't slap your hand like a mad schoolgirl or hold up 8 fingers to your girls.... but you know that. Hats off to the Red Hots....great team.......another great battle.....funny thing Mark......even when my team was bad.....they always treated me with CLASS. Just let it be what it is........no excuses wrapped in an escape clause......no lies.....no coaching behavior jabs.......nothing personal........just us 5........you 4.

Just curious, since we weren't there this weekend. Why was this pick up player illegal? Was she 16 or something? What is wrong with picking up a player if it's not a qualifier and no rosters were signed? Have the Phantomz never used a pick up player for a game or a weekend. Just curious.

Posting on behalf of the "TwinsMom" who's pc is on the fritz.

Those of you out there posting about the Twins playing on a Gold team, do not know my kids, nor do you know the reason they are playing on the 18U team. I appreciate everyone being so worried about my freakin' kids and where they are playing but if you do not know the reason, then please withhold any comments on them. I do not think that they are better than anyone else's child, nor would I worry about what you do with your kids like everyone seems to be worrying about mine. Those of you using my girls as a tool to get at Mark need to find another avenue. These are 14 yr old girls, who just love to play softball. They are good kids and do not deserve the negative attention or commentary that has been so prevalent on this forum.

The Phantomz are a good team with or without the twins. Mark is a very "no BS" kind of guy. He says what he means with no sugarcoating. A trait, called honesty, we should all appreciate. Mark is the type of guy that doesn't hide behind a screen name and neither am I. Please feel free to come and chat me at the ballpark if you really have to know my twins' personal business.

It just upsets me that folks talk about kids, not just mine, but any kid, when they don't know the whole story and second guess what it is. Remember these are KIDS y'all are targeting.

Congrats to the Redhots for winning the tourny. They were the best team out there today. You win some and you lose some and every team needs a humbling experience.

See you at the ballfied.

Yours truly,

Linda Rupp

The pickup player as the 6th grader from the 97 High Voltage to replace an injured player since Ray's team only had 9 players to begin with. And here is the funny part, she is a great pitcher but didn't pitch. She also has a good stick, but it appears that she was put at the bottom the lineup.

Point is as Ray said, a mistake was made. But since Mark wanted to protect the integrity of ASA, (because everyone knows that is his destiny in life) he did not allow Ray to correct the mistake and therefore Storm played with 8 players.

To the others on this thread. Its obvious you have not seen the 14U Power lately, let me give you a hint and go check out their website. This Power team is real so shut up with the 12U picks and save your bragging for after the tournament. Most of the 14U teams in this tournament would get beat by a 98 team so don't brag about beating them. Go out and beat Power, Bombers, 96 Impact or Phantomz and I will eat my words but don't brag about anything else.

As far as seeding goes, maybe it should be seeded by the results after the last completed inning.

You can take these picks to Vegas

Pool A - Phantomz
Pool B - Bombers
Pool C - Houston Power
Pool D - Sudden Impact

Anyof these 4 could be in the ship, but it will definately 2 of these 4. Take it to Vegas.

I am glad I didn't buy my tip sheet from asmack...I would have lost my A$$ in Vegas!!!

You know what they say about that lady named Carma....she is a b%#@h!!! :o :o :o

I think three monkeys was being sarcastic because he is with the Storm organization. All I was doing is making a team play by the rules that are set forth in the 2010 ASA rule book. As far as the illegal player, I was talking about the girl that they left off of the lineup but she played defense the first inning. According to the rule book, that is an illegal player and there are repercussions for using illegal players, but I purposely didn't bring those up.

Go ahead and chust thump coaches, it is not going to effect me or my team in any way. The 97 Storm Elite girls should be very happy and the pick up player too. Ya'll played a great game and we did not. Besides, "We wanted to get to the Bomber's anyway"!!

FYI - I have never picked a girl up from another team that has been knocked out of the tournament that we were playing in, nor do I think it should be allowed for a bracket game. But then again, it was the Storm team and the Storm organization was putting on the tournament??

Funny thing, earlier in the day I took up for the 97 Storm and convinced the TD to seed them first after explaining that after the head to head tie breaker, it goes to runs allowed and even though the Bomber's had beaten the Storm, the Storm allowed less runs.

And last but not least, we are planning on going the USFA route this year for lots of different reasons. Just in case anybody cares. Our tournament on the weekend of May 21st is going to an ASA tournament, but I willnot allow pick up players for bracket play, even though I will not ask for rosters to be turned in either and we will enforce ASA rules to the fullest. If that makes me a bad person, then I'm sorry.

The weather was beautiful and should still be throughout the week.

Hey Bleacher Mom, where did I say that the pick up player was illegal other than a team should not be allowed to pick up a player that played for another team in the tournament that is being played?? The illegal player was the girl that they forgot to add to the lineup card but she played the first half inning. There you go Ms. Bleacher Mom and no, I have never picked a girl up from another team during a tournament. What else would you like to question about Mark and the Phantomz?

One question 3monkeys. Do you think that at any level, the TD would have let anybody make that change? I do not understand why I am made out to be the bad guy just because I know the rules. It is probably better that we lost the game because if we had won, there would be a whole lot more crap going on, on here. There would be some serious whining going on. Hopefully, some way, some how, we will see each other again on the dirt and I hope and pray that the lineup card is filled out correctly and we will see how the game turns out next time.

I am not surprised that you threw your two cents in there and took that integrity jab at me. Even though we know each other, although I do not hide behind a screen name as you do, and you even act like you like me when we see each other, these are the kind of statements that will tend to make me not speak to you anymore. And for the record, we are going USFA this year 3 monkeys, just thought I would let you know.

See ya around Pearland 3monkeys,
Mark

Really, you think I was? How did you come up with that captain obvious?

Sorry Mark, let me get you another halo. Paper or plastic?

Yeah you and the TD put on a "great" tournament...

Mark wrote: "Even though we know each other, although I do not hide behind a screen name as you do, ..."

We've had this discussion before, the only reason you came out from behind your screen name was because everyone had called you out. Again, way to go captain obvious.

Mark wrote: "...and you even act like you like me when we see each other, these are the kind of statements that will tend to make me not speak to you anymore."

But can we still sit at the same table at lunch during 3rd period? What should I do with our friendship bracelet?
