That's a good one MavFan. It started out that way, but I was able to pull the reins back when I didn't like the way things were going. I was also trying to get them experience at the 10U level, being that I have been coaching in some capacity at this level for the last 10 - 12 years.

If , in fact, I do wind up with a 14U team in the fall, I am sure I will be able to put a competitive team on the field and doubly sure I will be able to find help coaching it. Contrary to popular belief on HB, there are lots of people that want to play for me because they know their DD will get what is needed to have a chance of playing High School ball and eventually college ball if they so desire.

Thanks,
TB24

Really??? Well I was especially impressed at the way you handled the "assistant coach" this past weekend in Sugar Land as he was standing in the middle of the field berating his 10U DD between innings.

Obviously I need for you to come out and give me and my coaches a lesson on how to tell people how to coach their own daughter's?? If you haven't already realized this, most all coaches are harder on their own daughter than they are on the rest of the team. If you had a problem with the way me or him handled the situation, then why didn't you come tell one of us about it right then and there. You do not know what he and I have talked about. You just want to sit behind an ID and talk trash about other people that are trying hard to help these young girls learn the game of softball.
That coach is a great guy, a bit harsh, but a great guy and good coach. He spends upteen hours with his daughter practicing (which I cannot say about all parents who expect the coaches to make their DD better just by having practice once or twice a week) and will do whatever it takes to make sure his daughter is prepared to play at the next level. He also extends that to each and every girl on the team.

Do you coach or manage a team?

What does my coaching a team have to do with what is perceived as a lack of control you have as a coach? I have never been President of the United States, but I can still comment on his job performance if I choose to. But for the record, many years of coaching.

Believe me when I tell you I was not the only one to be talking about it at the field. However speaking for myself, my perception was that this dude was all in this little girls grill about a meaningless pool game on a Saturday afternoon in Sugar Land. Being hard on your 10 year old kid is one thing, berating said 10 year old in the middle of the infield between innings is different, take it to the dugout. Obviously, you witnessed it, because you knew exactly who and what I was referring to.

I have been around long enough to know some coaches are harder on their own kids than others. I have also been harder on my own, but he is extreme! Congratulations to him for spending upteen hours a week with his kid. While I appreciate the time coaches spend teaching softball, there are other life lessons to be learned as well. I just think it shows poorly on your organization and team that he acted in such a manner. As far as him extending that to each and every girl on the team, I would have to take a pass thanks.

For the record, I have had several discusions with him and believe it or not, he has gotten better. I do not remember this particular incident, only figured it out by the way you explained it and I have witnessed it before. There is only so much I can do and if a coach is getting in the grill of one of the other kids on the team (not his DD), then I would have handled it on the spot. If you have had many years coaching, then you would completely understand that this is something that happens from time to time with certain individuals and you learn to deal with it away from the girls. As I stated above, it has gotten better. I was not extending anything to you or anybody else, was just referring to "our team" and the girls that are on there. Not one person on my team has come to me and said anything about it, so it must bother you and the other people that were talking about it at the field.
I will, however, take the advice you have given and try to make sure these things do not happen again. It hurts when somebody that I do not even know (which I'm sure we know each other) comments on how an incident reflects poorly on me and the Phantomz as a whole. I will heed the advice and go on from here. Thank you very much for pointing it out so I can do my best to keep it from happening again.

I think I have met you once, but I do not know you. To get that out of the way. And good luck to you and your team(s)!

That would be Phantomz with a Z sir.. And the 96 Phantomz do not exist. Just trying to stay ahead of the game as the deadline to register for the RM is about to pass, if it has not already.

It would have made, but felt like it was a better choice for my #24 to play for the Bandits and that would give me a chance to coach my #08 on the 10U team. Besides, it is very hard and unwise to try to field a competitive second year team when there is only one returning player. The rest of the Phantomz moved up to 14U and the only other girl went with the Bandits as well. I do not know why I am trying to explain this to you as you and just about everybody else on here already know it all!! As usual another person hiding behind an ID with all the smarts.
