Coaches Need to Teach More than X's and O's

sometimes coaches are so green they just don't get it yet, if they ever sat back and thought about the way the other teams players probably felt maybe they would think twice about ever doing that again.

I do not like to see 25-0 games any more than anyone else, but don't blame the good teams. They are taught to score as many runs as possible. I have seen teams leading 10-0 after 1 inning ease up on the other team then end up losing the game because they lost all their momendum and could not get it back.
Maybe coaches of B ball clubs should not enter in Tournments where they know they are going to take a licking and/or do a better job of teaching the girls how to play the game so they will be more competitive. if they do enter these tournments against very good ball clubs then accept what happens go on and try to do better get game. Don't cry Baby about it.

Wow.. when I read this post it brought back memories of a team we played in September that was leading us by three runs with 19 minutes left in the game. I looked up this team and sure enough... it is the same team that decided to run up the score last weekend. Not surpised. In our particular situation, we watched as this coach used every stall tactic to delay the game for the entire nineteen minutes. The bottom of the lineup was up so the likelihood of getting three quick outs was high but they did not want to play an extra inning with the top of our order coming up so we were entertained and then angered by some of the most unbeliveable of antics. We saw it all... shoelaces, multiple time outs, stretching of the pitchers, changing of the pitchers... so many that it was comical. The worst part is the umpires refused to stop the clock and simply shrugged their shoulders. The lack of sportsmanship was appalling and left us speechless. Even their parents were embarrassed by the actions of the coach. For almost 20 minutes we watched almost no softball but our team sure received a lesson in how not to play the game. Yes.. they are a very good team that can win on their own merit but it left us with a distaste that makes me wonder why a good team would need to lower themselves to this standard.

It's all hypothetical but if you are of the thinking that it's all a part of the game to bunt when up by so much, would you think the same thing of the team that won by such a margin, instead got beat by Adkins-Allen, Firecrackers, or Rhine 25-0? If I understand it correctly, many of you would think it's okay. I would love to have seen the conversation if Firecrackers were bunting up 13-0 so they could load them up for their big hitters.

Miles I understand your point and agree with you 100% 25-0 shows no class and any coach worth his salt would not show up any team like this regardless of the age!

BUT i must take you to task on your 3 examples. Adkins-Allen has broke up as I hear and at the very least has re-organized as a 16U team, and the Firecrackers do not deserve to be mentioned in the top 14U teams in North Texas anymore especially until they prove they can finish a tournament or at least contend to place. I will give you the Rhine example though they are a fine team and may be the new 14U team to beat. BUT can we please stop referencing the Firecrackers on this site as a top level team? Its a tired aurgument that has been proven time and time again that they dont deserve that level of praise any longer.

Based on VTD records

Here are my top picks for first year 14U because from what I see that is what has been talked about here.

1. Batbusters(Rhine) Hands down the top king of VTD in the metroplex. Will they qualify to play ASA "A" next year or will they place 5th at the vtd World Series again? Was that 5th? Please somebody correct if I'm wrong.

2. Firestixx: Beat Firecrackers and I believe they also beat Rhine's team last weekend or did Elite beat Rhine? Didn't have enough time to research.

3. (a)Glory Adkins Allen: If they are still together they will bounce back. (a) Firecrackers: need to show that they can win again.

4. Fireballs: Will remain consistent if they do not lose any players.

5. Elite '98 based on VTD are looking good.

Well if you want to be on a top VTD team these are your picks.

This should get interesting. All a y'all have at it! 4th of July all over again.

Glory Allen Is still alive and Kicking and been playing all 16 u this fall ,But will be back at 14u this spring.We play them at a friendly this fall in Flower mound

I think any of these teams discussed could beat and get beat by any of these teams and they have any day. It's all about who is on and who is off that moment.
And is that really what we want to do is who swings the biggest?

Perhaps you were mistaking my post with what people are saying in the "Top 14U teams in NTX". I chose those 3 teams at random simply for the fact that everyone knows who they are and seem to get more press than most. I wasn't making reference to whom I thought was the best around.

Like justa said before, VTD is for practice and ASA is where the big boys come to play in Houston and Cali. Parents want ribbons next to their team on their VTD website you start with Rhine's team and go from there.

Perhaps the best post that I've seen since I joined here a short time ago. I agree with you that unless you were in Montgomery last year, you can't say you're the best of the best for NTX. I'm sure that TPS or Mizuno to the South are concerned about placing in a bunch of local tournaments so they can see a pretty symbol on a website.
