IMHO - If your happy with the coach and results then you are not wasttng your money. I prefer my DD's coach who is a former player who understands and is able to communicate the mental aspect of the game. She has on many occasions talked to my DD about what should be going thru her mind in certain situations. A male coach who has never played could never offer that perspective.

Doesn't really make me feel good or bad. I wouldn't let a woman who has watched baseball her whole life to teach my son to pitch and I wouldn't let a Man teach my DD to pitch. JMHO. Not trying to ruffle any feathers.

I'll pass those words of wisdom along to Lisa Fernandez, Jennie Finch, Cat Osterman...all who at one time or another had THAT 'know nothing' MAN teach them. Dang! How can that be?

In fact, Cat first took the diamond as a baseball player, in something they call Little League...where she learned nothing...

You are so right! We all know you have to be a former woman player to be able to coach softball at the highest levels. I would never let my DD learn from or play for a man. Never! I mean just look at this list and see for yourself. Men can't teach young women to be successful at the game of fastpitch softball.

You know what folks, I give up! I was just offering an opinion, that's all. Like I said before if your happy with you situation great! I'm happy with mine! All those men coaches in college are great! they're great at recruiting and many other aspects of the game. Now my question? are they teaching these girls to play once they get to that level? I don't really think so. I think that they tweek a girls swing, they offer a little advice now and then. I've heard it said a few times Good coaches let the good players play and cut the bad ones. So don't get your panties in a wad just because I prefer to have a former D1 Player coach my kid. And that I feel she can learn a little more from a coach that actually played the game!

I think the issue is that your presumptons are flawed and mislead young parents and players. Your statement about the Division I coaches above is so biased and uninformed as to almost be laughable. Good coaches coach. Doesn't make a difference if they played Division I, II, III, or never "played" at all. Getting the most out of young players often does not involve a coach having any real experience playing fastpitch. Can the coach teach skills fundamentals, game play, mental preparation, and can they motivate. And it doesn't make a hill of beans whether the coach is a woman or man.

Sir I was just giving my opinion that's all! As far as misleading all I can say is if your basing any dicisions about your DD's situation on my opinion all I can say is I'm sorry for you. Here's another opinion for you. It's still a mans world and that's why you see so many male softball coaches. Women are denied many coaching jobs because their women. That's why you don't see more women coaches in softball, soccer, basketball etc... I'M GOING TO SAY IT ONE MORE TIME IF YOU ARE HAPPY WITH YOUR DAUGHTERS COACH GREAT!!! I'M HAPPY WITH MINE! MY DAUGHTER IS LEARNING FROM A YOUNG WOMAN WHO PLAYED, REC BALL, SELECT BALL, GOLD BALL AND COLLEGE BALL!.
And finally! I like the tact that my DD's coach takes the extra time and shares with her about the time she spent playing in college it get's my DD fired up about blaying!

So there is all this talk of the top pitchers in all different locations in the state, etc. But who are the top pitching instructors who are producing these players? How long have they been giving lessons? Year after year do they continue to produce top pitchers?

Who is it according to the heybucket knowalls that produces these amazing pitchers?

It obviously isn't their daddy, but rather their daddy's money who is making them top players.

This was the original question and, as usual on the bucket, a smart comment here and there caused a simple question to turn into a debate as to who is better, male or female at coaching.

Great coaches, regardless of whether they are male or female, produce great results. I am sure DP thinks the female coach of his/her DD is the best for his/her DD. If DP is happy that is fine and that is best for his/her DD...no reason for debate. DP found what he/she was looking for in a coach.

I personally have a male hitting coach (DD does not pitch) for my DD that has done an excellent job. I did not choose him because he was male, but because he has a PROVEN TRACK RECORD OF SUCCESS and had very positive recommendations from those I trust. If the coach had happened to be female I could care a less...I only wanted a proven history and positive results for my DD. That should be the only factor in choosing a coach, pitching or otherwise.

I would imagine the intent of the OP would be to get names of coaches that have a proven track record of success...not to generate a debate of whether male or female coaches are better.

Can anyone identify the female, former players in DFW who are pitching coaches and who have a proven track record of producing DI and DII pitchers. I think that would be helpful to know.
