Game times and fields will only get your so far. The best schools find the best talent regardless of where they are playing. Shelton doesn't need to rig his own schedule to get his kids signed Div. I. With a few exceptions, they are the best of the best. Contrary to the sales job by the Glory faithful, the rest of the Glory teams don't get their kids signed Div. I with any more success than numerous other teams in North Texas despite their prime times in area showcases.

The Ft. Worth Batbusters and Texas Elite have been rigging their own schedules for years and its certainly hasn't helped them. Graves' and Bancroft's teams haven't been well respected by the Big XII, SEC, WAC, Conference USA, or Southland for several years. Go look to see how many players on either of these programs have signed to play in any of these conferences recently.

I believe there is only one Glory girl playing in the Big 12. Grave's has had more girls quit the Big 12 then Glory has in it.

Graves' ...teams haven't been well respected by the Big XII, SEC, WAC, Conference USA, or Southland for several years.

No question, exceptional talent . . . now name another one or two or three. . . interesting how the best two players Graves has had in YEARS both transfer from Big XII schools to the SEC . . would make any Big XII coach pause before recruiting another one as a first priority don't you think?

If players and parents do their job, coaches will come see you regardless of what field your playing. I recall when we were on the Ronald McDonald list for the first year, we played in Tomball with two Friday night games...the stands were full of coaches because they knew where to find us because of good communication.

I am a big fan of the charity showcase tournaments such as Ronald McDonald and now the Batbuster Tournament. The coaches seem to be big fans of them as well as they support them. In North Texas we havegreat access to a number of good showcase tournaments where coaches from around the country come to support. This is an advantage on many other areas where they have to travel multiple times in order to have the same opportunity. Bottom line, IF it is a showcase where a lot of coaches support it, sign up and play. The Elite Showcase, Bat Busters, NRH and Ronald McDonlad tournaments are going to be great, weather permitting. Good luck to ALL the teams in getting as many young ladies in front of the coaches and getting those offerson the table.

Thank you Dan for clarifying my error. I hope that all the big dogs start working together to provide more opportunity for the girls in the DFW area. I have heard rumors of alliances on these showcases and limiting active recruiting from other program's talent. Any truth to it?

This is the underbelly of this process that no one ever talks about. Now that D-bat has entered the picture is only a matter of time before they start their college look tournaments. Then even more independents are going to get left out, and more girls will get left behind in the exposure process.

Actually, D-BAT will NEVER do a traditional showcase like you see around the metroplex during the Fall. http://www.dfwmetroscoutleague.com FYI - When baseball begins its 4th season of the MSL next Fall, we will bring MSL to the softball side.

This will be an event that benefits players who can play, not players who wear a certain uniform. This will include players from independent teams. This will be their shot, to not worry about wearing a certain uniform so that they can be recruited. A truly level playing field for recruiting.

Look at what happens around Texas now with the current system. A kid like Vonnie Martin (2010 Plano) will play ball at Fresno State in California, but the Texas schools weren't pushing too hard, but yet the D1's in California had major interest. If the MSL existed in softball 2-years ago, Vonnie would have stood out in the 2010 class, and the Texas schools would have been all over her. Instead, they have certain teams they follow around and consider those kids first.

You certainly can't knock those organizations for having a reputation like that, and those that do knock them are probably acting out of jealousy. What the MSL does is give everyone a fair shake. You have to be good enough to get in the league, and the process for players being invited will be very objective.
