To clear up any confusion and as already stated, this is the Texas Glory Adkins 14U team. There is not, never was, never will be a Glory Chambers team. Richard Simpson is the head coach and has always been the head coach of this team. He has done an great job of bringing the Adkins program to this squad and instilling in each of the players, and parents, what it takes to succeed in a high profile, nationally recognized organization. He has spent countless hours away from his family and home, as a non-parent coach, to train and work with each of the girls - and he deserves alot of credit for that. Richard has been a long time coach with Dan Adkins and still holds the position as hitting coach on the Gold team. Richard's knowledge of the game is the primary reason for the success of this bunch.
As far as the team name shown on the Colorado brackets, I'm as confused as anyone. It was easy: one team was to be listed as Texas Glory Adkins, and the other team to be listed as Texas Glory Adkins 14U. For the life of me I cannot figure out why the tourny T-shirts were correct but the brackets were incorrect. I simply handle the team info, tourny signups, clerical things, and other info that Richard needs distributed to the team since his job does not allow him to do so. Since I signed us up on behalf of Richard, apparentely they used my name as the coach - after specifically asking her not to. Jack Fultz entered and was the contact for his team. I am guessing that Robin, the tourny coordinator, used Fultz and Chambers to differentiate between the two teams for the benefit of those doing the scheduling and brackets. Funny thing is, when our two teams sat at the coaches meeting and saw the team names in the program, we knew someone would jump on heybucket and try to get some mileage out of this. So, good job of "spinning" this.
Again, Richard Simpson is the head coach of this Tx Glory Adkins 14U team and has always been. Randy Gray, Jason Milligan, and myself simply support him through our efforts in assisting however we can.
In addition, the team is fully in tact, including the same pitching staff, and we are looking for and expecting great things from our girls at Nationals in GA.
As for the Batbusters Rhines catcher who was badly hurt (we were warming up in the outfield of this game), our thoughts and prayers are with her and her family and we hope to see her back in the dirt soon after a speedy recovery.
