Playing in the snow?

by nsidethelines » Fri Dec 04, 2009 11:27 am

Heavy snow tonight on the fields, ice on the roads tomorrow morning and a 60% chance of rain on Sunday. How many more clues do you need to cancel a tournament? Sure there is a light chance to see some good games, but weight the pros and cons folks. Nobody is using this as an excuse, just save the battle for another day. Its a crazy argument about the heat in the summer. The heat doesn't usually create deadly conditions on the roadways or cause harm to your $300 bats.

Stay home folks, hot chocolate and fire and maybe even some college football.

Guys, about 5 years ago, we played a tournament like that in the New Braunfels area - low was 31, high was 37. Played the last game at about 8 pm, icing, nasty, dangerous, finally said 'thats enough' , it took a month for the kids to recover from that mess. Two RT bats were ruined that day - I swore 'never again'. Softball is too much fun to play and coach to do it in nasty weather. This is Texas, - stay home - wait for a nice weekend, there are plenty of them.

I know the TD worked very hard to pull this tournament off but I heard they were not going to refund any money that was sent in if you decided not to play due to unsafe driving conditions or because he changed the format to a 2 game guarantee. Please correct me if this is not the case because I heard it 2nd hand. If this the case, this guy is bush league and only cares about one thing....MONEY!!! Even if he gave back a token amount to each team it would show he some integrity.

It's not about the safety of folks, it's about the almighty dollar. Hopefully we'll have better weather next weekend.

I'm taking an trust aluminum just in case.

I once argued this point with one of our coaches (the need for a ballwarmer) in all seriousness for over 5 minutes one only to stop when I realized that all of the team moms were falling out of their chairs laughing at me. They have such dirty minds

The Katy Christmas Classic is a collaboration between Really, FastpitchDirt.com, and the Katy Cruisers to purposely withhold information to increase web traffic for FastpitchDirt.com. I ask that Honest Bob open up an immediate investigation into this matter.

Actually, it is sad that it does seem like coaches are having to get their info from a website instead of the TD.
