My bad. Looked in Texas and didn't see it.

Prayers and thoughts to his family. As we all know, life and death happens every day. I have never heard of something like this happening at a softball game. Very sad for everyone involved! :(

He was one of my coaches from 7th grade thru hs. My kid was playing 1b when it happened. Tragic. I didn't know who it was til later that night.

I heard from a parent at the game that it was very tragic and emotional - the victim was well known, well respected, and a great influence in the local world of softball. Prayers for the family

I also heard that there were some people (and I use the word "people" loosely) in attendance who became upset that the game was not continued after this happened. If that's true, I'm appalled....

Three good match ups and only three of them can advance.

Who will it be? Who will it be?

I'm staying away from this one. I have too many kids I've coached or coached against to make a prediction. It's just sad that 3 have to go home. The prediction I'm going to make is that the State title will be won by one of these 6 teams. I know its bold but these 6 can really play!!!

My thoughts and prayers go out to the umpires family and friends!!!

Pretty interesting format.

This is what I heard....

Each coach says what they prefer, 1 game or best of three. If they do not agree on the same format, they have to flip a coin and the winner gets to pick which format they want. If it is a one gammer, they will decide on a neutral site. Most best of threes are home and home and if a third game is necessary, a nuetral site will be picked. Some best of three series are all played at a nuetral site. Not sure how that is decided. Winner has to be decided by midnight on Saturday so some best of threes are spread out Thursday through Saturday with one game each day. Some are one game on Friday and a double header on Saturday if a third game is required. The one gammers are usually scheduled for Thursday or Friday in the event one of those days are rained out, they still have Saturday to get it in.

Picking umpires is yet another issue.

Imagine driving 300 miles each way for a 1 game playoff. At least we won.

I drove 200 each way for a best of 3 and after food and hotel, we still lost. Some of the district matchups are unique.
