The TPS '98 is the team. They have everything the Red Hots have and better pitching.

Tractor. It is way to early for this, wait for the dang tryouts at least. I will share this with you though.

Redhots: Forecast is good. They should be a strong team but some changes would not be a surprise. I would expect them to fill any holes and have a team that plays some 14U ball and qualify for 12U Nationals next summer.

TPS: Forecast is good. Jodi will have a solid team that will be competitive, but making the adjustment. Some adjust better than others so we will have to wait and see.

HV97: Forecast is mostly sunny with low humidity a slight breeze. Gene will have this team playing ASA Nationals in the Summer of 2010. Count on it.

Sting: Forecast is mostly cloudy with occassional sun peeking through.

Kaos: Winter storms and Summer tropical storms are in the forecast with a strong chance of tornadoes all year.

Panthers: Partly cloudy. Another team making the adjustment but should have some good times ahead.

99 Phantomz: Have to include him in this! Since he is 2nd year 10U I say he gets his team to play up in 12U at least once this fall and gets his 96 kid to pitch then quit just before the Championship game.
What you get by achieving your goals is not as important as what you become by achieving your goals.

That is a good one Zig, you read my mind :D

I appreciate the fact that your thinking about me, or is it my wife??

FYI - The 14U "96" Phantomz are back on. I just got confirmation that the league will let me have a team. You are welcome to bring your DD to tryouts when I get them posted.

Seems like this poll should have been top Houston 12u teams. Or is there that little support from North and Centra Texas?

I think the redhots are the team to beat based on this past year's performance. Outside of Houston though, I would put Glory 97, the Kruzers, and Austin's Finest in the mix as well.

Should be fun.

It is hard to make predictions without even knowing who is playing where. There are several teams that will put a good product on the field, but still will be 98 teams with allot of strong 97 teams to deal with that have plenty of power. It will be interesting to see who can put a competitive roster together the quickest. It will also be interesting to see how well the 98 pitchers fair with the distance change and bigger ball. I would have to question if the 98 teams don't realign with there talent or combine some of there talent it will be tough for some teams to compete on a regular bases through the fall and especially spring and summer. If any 96's stay down for fall it could get ugly with some of the younger 98 teams that have to move up if they get paired against each other in the fall tournaments. I guess we will see how it turns out real soon, with tryouts about to kick off all over town. It seems there are allot of tryouts on the same weekend. It will be hard for girls to make several different tryouts on the weekend of the 15th-16th. I wonder who will tryout for different teams this year? And can the 98's pick up some 97 to strengthen some of there rosters ? It will be interesting to see what unfolds ;)

Definitely early to make predictions since tryouts haven't happened. It will be fun to see who's shopping in the next couple of weeks.

Teams that have the advantage going into tryouts with what they have or what they have the potential to acquire due to current reputation:

RedHots (no question)
HV 97 (no question)

Glory 97 - solid team - right at the top
Kruzers 97 - based on rep only, never played them

TPS 98 - has been really great at 10U BUT 12U is a whole different animal - it's not a pitcher's game anymore, it's a hitter's game. Jody can make the adjustments, but can all his girls. He'll make some noise for sure.

Rattlers, Chaos, Heat stand to loose more than they will gain with tryouts.
TPS 97 - I thought there was not going to be a 97 team anymore
Ice 97 may have some potential if they pick up a couple of good players with tryouts.

Everyone is forgetting about the 98 Texas Sting! They will have allot to offer this season. We will see what happens with there tryouts coming up and who wants to be apart of that scrappy 98 team. ;)

97 Redhots hands down have the #1 slot in Texas. There is not one team even close to them anymore. Based on what I have seen this year and played most of these teams:

Austins Finest 97: Good team, can get hot but to streaky. Can never get over the hump and compete with the best week in and week out.

HV97: Very nice team, closest 97 team to Redhots from down here in Houston! But Redhots would take 9 out of 10 games from them.

TPS 97: Not worthy of mention anymore.

TPS98: Will be second closest team to Redhots in Houston. Will compete with best in the state and should try and make the trip come next August to Bloomington for 12U Nats. Jodie should have them playing with the big girls on a consistent basis.

97 Kruzers: You have to be kidding me to mention them anymore. Saw them at Nats this year and only (4) girls remain from the original team. Coach had alot of talent but daddy ball destroyed them. Lucky if they are even a team this fall.

Glory 97: Once a great team but has lost it. Head coach has no clue. I mean you go from a team getting 5th at 10U ASA "A" Nats last summer to getting 3rd at ASA Southern Nats this summer with 9 teams? If I was on this team I would be concerned. Alot of talent but zero coaching.

It’s definitely way too early to predict who will be strong in the fall, but hey its fun.
Is that it for the 97's, no others out there? How about any new 97's forming, anyone heard of any potential sleepers out there :?: I would think that the poll at the top would have more 97s on it. The fall will be an adjustment time for the 98's new ball, different pitching distance, different timing for the batters etc... I would venture to say that many of these 98's will have some 97's on them after try outs. Time for a shuffling of the deck, won’t know where the cards fall for a month.
