I think the Blaze team that softballs is refering to is out of RR.

I think the top 3 will be:

1. FW BB(Montoya)-if roster is playing
2. 95 TPS
3. Crazy 8's

95 Blaze-Kirk could sneak in there
SK Velocity-top 5
ELITE-not sure what they have, will see in Allen

It would be nice to see Kruzers and Travelers-Lusk in this, but they should dominate in Allen.

Where are all of these Blaze teams from?

I think they are from Austin area.

I like Montoya for this and for a top 10 finish in Marietta. I doubt you will see the complete final product at the Bomber due to HS.

I'm only counting 7 teams from the DFW area, 3 of those being B teams. Travelers & Kruzers staying local. May get some noise from the make-shift Crazy 8's.

Can someone explain why a team that is supposed to be pretty good by all accounts with majority of their players already playing HS ball would waste their time in 14U?

A shot at winning ASA Nationals. It is a great predicament. If you have a bunch of freshman varsity level players, they can compete well in 16U and some can move on to a gold squad. If you move up to 16U Nationals what realistic chance do you have to win it all? On the other hand, if you are 14U eligible, you have a much better shot at winning or at least a top 10 finish if you stay 14U.

I would think that if you can play and are a freshman you would want to be seen by all the coaches at 16U Nationals. Sure seems the trend is more and more girls verballing with colleges as freshman and sophmores.

My DD is an 8th grader and I am trying to decide what would be best. Not sure what the best way to go is.

That's an easy one...HS ball sucks and there are no 16U/18U tournaments around this time of year, and if they're still 14U eligible, why not still play and keep your skills up? There are plenty of very competitve 14U teams that could compete with any 18U and the many "so called" gold teams out there. Many of those teams play up after HS is over anyway.

And this is where the circle begins.

Last year, Lady Magic (then 16U) was openly criticized for having a couple of older kids that had just finished their junior year (17 yr olds at 16U Nationals). Lots of people said these girls belonged in Gold. They won the championship and now, almost their whole team is committed. (It didn't hurt that they also won 16U division in Boulder.)

The moral I got out of their story is this. If you have a real shot at winning, or placing high, go for it. A champion, runner up, or a top 10 finish will easily get you into the top showcases.

Now if you go for it and miss, your girls just missed a year of higher exposure.
