Thanks bigbaddude for posting that link. I wish we had a local reporter who cared so much about softball to write a story like this! And, to claim that one of the area's schools had one of the best players in the state. Butch, from the Austin area, probably overweighted teams that came to the Round Rock tourney a few weeks ago. Many of the old powerhouses did not show, so the rumor was maybe those teams are having a down year.

As we all know, predictions and reality often differ. If it happens to professional players, it will happen to female teenagers. Underperformance is so common in our sport.

Last I checked this poll really doesn't count for much of anything except for some bragging rights between some puffed out chested daddys. Heck the coaches don't even participate in the poll. For crying out loud, you want Pearland ranked next week, have someone send in that article and they will move up.

If you win on the field, you will be ranked in the only poll that counts.

So those that have started to play, what did you think of your team? We played Sherman last night and while they are ranked 20 in this poll, they have some room for improvement. The pitching was good and had a few good hitters, but it's a long way from watching 18U ball. I hope our coach can correct the errors that we had, but it's fun to watch softball again.
