Behindtheplate I must ask why you are not impressed with Fusion Gold? Before you ask me, yes I am associated with the association at the 14U level. I'm just curious about your comment.

Aggie, it is completely understandable that you think they are doing a great job since you are playing in the same organization and hoping your kid makes it to slades team at some point. I am sure that the Glory parents think the Shelton team is a cut above as well. The obsetvation I made was from having watched all of these teams play a number of games this fall. I know it is fall and showcase softball is not always competitive softball, but you can see who has the talent and who does not. Fusion will give it a valliant effort and I wish them well. But, after watching this level for many years, in the end I do not think they have the talent to get it done. Only my opinion and I feel the same way about several other teams. Also does not mean that some of the teams I think have impressed wont falter along the way.

The Aggies are primed for a whooopin from now until Thanksgiving maybe true. However, I believe that on the day of turkey and stuffing, the Horns will make it 3 in a row in November!!

I appreciate your observations and opinion. But didn't Fusion Gold make it to Nationals this year? It wasn't because of luck, but because of hard work, attitude, hustle and the desire to win. Not an easy task in my opinion. Yes, it is the fall season so your observations mean nothing to all teams that you are impressed or un-impressed with. Which brings me to ask, why say anything at all if your so up-to-date with the Gold level knowing it is the fall season? JMO...

Behind the plate, all of us are working pretty hard this fall to showcase our kids and to find out exactly what we have on our roster and who can do what in every situation. We played a couple of tournaments where we were playing to win games. Every other game has been a showcase. I would hope that one would not make decisions about how good a team can be while they are in showcase mode. I appreciate you watching out for us but remember that the spring season, when we are all playing for a bid to gold nationals I PROMISE you that you will see a little more out of all of us than you have this fall. If you watch us play, come by and tell me how we can make our team better. I am always willing to learn from anyone willing to share.

Aggie, thanks for the support and for being part of our program.

Don't put too much stock in what people say, especially when they won't say WHO they are. I am very excited about the future of our program and this team in particular. We have not played a game yet this fall when we didn't have at a minimum 4 or 5 players out. There are millions of haters out there, this is just another one.

Go back and look at the history of teams from North Texas that have qualified in the last 10 years to Gold Nationals. You will be surprised to find that most of the teams that you would have expected to go multiple years have not. I can't find many that have started from scratch and in their first year of attempting to qualify, have actually been able to do so. Maybe he/she is just another one of those that always says teams today aren't as good as they where a few years ago. Don't you think there is a reason that the powers that be have moved the rubber back to 43 feet? Pitchers dominated the game at 40 feet, and they would today if not for rule changes to help the sport grow. Today’s bat technology and the emphasis that the players put on hitting grows every year. Yes there are watered down teams, but many of them are in the ORGANIZATIONS that have been riding the coat tails of years past for so long that they may never see the present for what it is, or the future for what it beholds. To me the game is better than ever, and as it evolves I think it will be better 5-10 years from now than it is today.

We have proven people wrong for many years. Slade, you can't develop players at the Gold level. Do you know how many times I heard that? Come find me at the ball park and I will show you a whole list of players that would beg to differ.

All the talking starts heating up now and through the winter and into early spring, by the time the summer gets here you can always here the sound of silence, if you know what that sounds like, you know what I mean...

when I played football, spring football was the time you meshed the players with incoming transfers and laid the groundwork for the coming fall season. after college, we had mini camps to evaluate free-agents, draft choices, etc. All with the eye for the season to come. I look at fall ball the same way. Evaluate new talent, mesh your team, experiment with line-ups, etc. I could care less about trophies or bragging rights in the fall. In the spring and summer is when it really matters. OOpps unles you pay a butt-load of money to try and sneak a HOF berth by playing in the disney HOF qualifier----then you may want to play for real! Just my two cents
