You have half of it right, I am a parent but no dogs in the fight any longer. I am a huge fan of the game, that is why I do what I do. During the college season there is little time to pay attention to any other age groups but this is the time of year where I end up watching games every weekend wherever I think the best competition will land regardless of age group.
Thomas Flanigan has had a lot of success with his team, I was proud to see a north Texas team win ASA regardless to what club it came from. I think he is a good field coach but a poor manager. He seems to not have the ability to keep the crazies in the bleachers under control. It is the head coaches job to control your fans at all times. There is a history with this group of parents/coaches that goes back 2-3 years now. This team has talent and are fun to watch but that is often overshadowed by behavior in the stands that have caused police to have to show up at times and have caused hurt feelings with other organizations and teams that will never be healed. When you have the talent to be a great team you should have the fortitude to keep the team, coaches and parents under control. That is why Kevin Shelton put what was likely to be the best team in the Glory organiation on the road.
