Coaches touching players

by Igivefreedom » Tue Oct 12, 2010 9:44 am

I'm a parent of two softball players, they told me they don't like to be touch by any coach it doesn't matter if IT is a women coach or a man coach. Coaches in REC BALL TRAVEL BALL HIGH SCHOOL SHOULD NOT TOUCH A PLAYER :!:

As a Houston Police Officer and Dad of a player; this is something I don't like to see. I am no expert; but, I thought that coaches were not allowed to touch players when they are on the field. Although I have to say; I often give my kid a hug after the game; uniform or not, especially when she is yelled at by her "coach" from start to finish, and humiliated on the field. It's just what I do, as a dad.

This is an eye opening subject to me. I know that I fist bump, high five and pat the girls on their helmets during the game. But there are times in between games where I may hug them on one shoulder after a joke or if they have gotten injured while we wait for parent to assist. I never thought it could make them nervous or uneasy. This is a good reminder that some of the girls may be uncomfortable even though I know I have no ill intentions.
