Many of the umpires I work with also take the time for the clinics and training. I am always open to any questions or rule interpretations that you may have. I have tried to recruit young talent but many guys do not want to come out due to unruly fans. Not all just some. So hey if you are in central texas and want to ump give me a buzz.

Raul,
I understand that you are limited to a few good umps to choose from and I am in no shape to be a good umpire. Can good umpires be recruited from Austin, Waco Houston or Dallas for Central TX tournaments? What would it take? Maybe if the ones who do not act right had no work they would get better or quit. Maybe new one would come in because unruly fans/coaches wouldn't be the norm with better umps. I feel your pain, but as I stated in an earlier post the good umps must also help police their own. It may not be your fault but it is your problem.
I don't mind paying more if it will help the cause, but I do not feel like I am getting what I pay for most of the time in San Marcos/Seguin/ New Braunfels. I was at a tournament in East TX last year that charged $30.00 and at first I thought this is crazy but I never saw anything but hustle the whole weekend. I even comented to the TD about how geat it was and he it was the norm.
