Their STUD pitcher (Senior is D1 committed) and STUD catcher (Senior is D1 committed) are out with knee injuries sustained last fall (should return for district play).
Their Freshman back ups were also out with injury and other stuff.
They won't win back-to-back 2A state championship without their 2-senior 2 big guns, IMO.
Taking nothing away from Wylie. They were solid.

FWST does not post for 2A or 1A and they only cover the 5A, 4A & 3A schools that buy papers from them. You will get more coverage of Dallas schooools than you will for schools on the south and west side of FW.

Wylie was missing its best player and 2 others still playing basketball but you are correct it would not matter if Hayes was ready to pitch.
By the way unless one of those frosh back ups was a pitcher it would not have mattered either.
