Nowadays it looks like a new 10U or 8U team is born every week (who knows if these teams were ever even competitive in the rec system), with coaches names you've never heard of and players you've never seen before. The difference is these teams are now carrying Elite status team names.
Many of these so called elite teams carry the names of these big time organizations for the simple fact of recruiting is easier with a big name. What ever happened to coaching just for the love of the game.
Are we seeing a shift? Are we seeing more big name organizations willing to take on anyone with a pulse just to boast their sheer numbers? "Look at us we have 8 teams in our org"..."No look at us we have 12 teams in our org"...etc without ever doing any research on these coaches? No offense to AF, but they picked up 3 new teams and only one of those teams is an actual competitive team...so why do it? Maybe i'm wrong, but I thought being a part of a big time organization was something you earned. Maybe the shift is these big time organizations are wanting to give back, take on teams that aren't as good so they can help them...who knows? But this last couple of months has definately shown one thing...the more the merrier!
