Heard some news today - Hope it's not true

by play4fun » Mon Jul 14, 2008 7:04 pm

I received a call today telling me that Glory (Elliott) is breaking up and will not be attending 14U Nationals. Has anyone else heard this? Is it true? Hope not!

This will be a sad day for this team if it is true since these girls earned the right to go to nationals by winning Metros and then not get to go because they are locked to this roster.

The rumor i heard...The Elliot break up is as usual parents screwing with the team concept. Parents wanting thier kids playing all the time or not happy becasue a team only won by 1 or 2 or bla, bla, bla. The are successful all year and they loose a few close and tough games in Fireworks and they all complaining and generate a take over. Typical of a couple parents on this team -- i heard.

Parents don't have a clue of the amount of time coaches spend on a team.. and in softball it is for free. Believe it our not many of the long tern successful coaches do think about the team and what may be best. All the teams mentioned in a differnent posting is of successful teams with successful coaches. What are parents and players thinking an expecting? Do they appreciate any of it?

Sorry to hear that Elliot, BB and Advengers and Rapid Fire may be going thought this stuff...

If the players want to go to nationals, it must be with a Ft. Worth Metro team according to the ASA State Director.

Fort Worth Metro
1. Glory - Elliot
2. Rapid Fire
3. Glory - Houston
4. Batbusters

Rapid Fire and Batbusters have received a bid for nationals.

I believe I disclosed this info last week...big organizations equal big problems...especially for the kids.

Glory Elliot had to pick up 2 kids for last weekends tourney to have enough--they were from a batbuster team that plays all 18u--except for metro 16u this year.

I heard Avengers had a pitcher walk out on them in the middle of 16u regionals this last weekend, with rumors of another getting ready to walk too.

You are going to hear more about large organization since more teams = more players and more troubling parents.

1 team =
12 girls
12 set of parents

Glory organization ( used as an example)
14 teams- I think
approx 168 players
Approx 168 set of parents = 336 parents - yikes!!!!

This will be the third team Glory has lost this spring.

I see more problems emerging from a large organization!!!!!!!!

In response to Lori, I think I saw where the only Batbuster team to play 16 metro was at the 16 regoinal last weekend. If they had 2 players with Elliott and not with them I would be surprised.

It will be interesting to see how the teams fair after all the player swapping.

organizations dont need to go big, they lose control and it makes the whole organization look bad. If you are a true organization you will stay small.

Why have more then two teams per age division, makes no sense at all.

Exposure........Exposure...........Exposure..........

Seems to be the reason........Try to get into a major tournament as a home grown, Mom and Pop coached team. Try to get a college coach to pick up the phone and call you back if your the coach on a Mom and Pop coached team. There is a reason why college coachs flock to major organizations games at exposure and Nationals. They are proven, most of the time. There is a reason why most girls on major teams end up at major colleges.
