I was talking with a dad of one of my students last night and he gave me some great insight to share this morning with regards to the happenings last weekend and your post was gone.
Inquiring minds want to know if you were censored by your DD's coach or AD?
Another thought was the Avon/Noblesville game last night. 1-0 in 15 innings and it must have been awesome, but leads to the discussion about going to international tie breaker after say the 9th in regular season games so the pitchers don't have to throw two games in an evening.
We have played a 13 inning game and I am sure there are more of these long extra inning games that if ITB was in the books would maybe save a kid for the tournament when it really matters.

Bucketboy, with the poor weather we have had and games being scheduled on top of one another right now, it is the PERFECT time for someone with some influence or a loud voice to speak up in favor of the International tiebreaker. Most high school coaches don't have enough self-discipline to change pitchers after 7 or 8 innings; they will throw their #1 until her arm falls off because the gamer #1 pitchers rarely ask to be removed. I also wonder what time the visiting team arrived home last night, which obviously was a school night. Our team plays Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday this week AFTER playing the county tournament on Saturday; if we had a 15 inning game last night, our kids wouldn't play well or study the rest of this week at all.
While someone is airing an opinion on the ITB, please get safety bags at 1st base, too.

Asking totally out of curiosity here, since I am a baseball dad and am just now getting into the softball world (daughter is playing her 1st year of HS ball), but why don't the girls have a inning limit for the pitchers resembling that of the boys? I'm not sure, but I think it is 10 innings in 72 hrs.
I would think this would force the HS coaches to use their #2 & #3 more and not throw the #1 until her arm falls off.
To me this would make more sense than going to the ITB.

The deleting of the topic had nothing to do with anyone at DCHS. I can only say that some people in Southern Indiana actually saw the post, found my e-mail address, and requested that the post be deleted in return for assurance that the matter would be addressed. I thought about it for a little while and decided to go ahead and remove it for now. I might post it again if I think it was swept under the rug.
However, I am interested in your thoughts.

If this was the thread about the kid being confused when she heard a spectator scream from the stands ...
If this was a 10/12U game, I would say the screamer's actions were weak. Let the children play the game without parents trying to play a role. However, in 14U you're looking at kids who may play in high school. Time for kids to learn how to focus when in the game and hear nothing but the voices of their peers, coaches and blues. In HS, attempts are routinely made to distract opposing players. It just happens and kids need to be able to filter out the noise. So in the OP's situation, I would be far less concerned about someone yelling something from the stands and far more concerned that my kid heard it and acted upon it.

I applaud you for trusting that it will be taken care of and hopefully it will.
His take and he played baseball in the same conference they are in was that kind of behavior was all too common place back in the day and it sounds like not much has changed to him.
He spoke of bus windows being busted, brawls, suspensions, etc.. from his playing days in that part of the world and hopefully it will be dealt with and won't ever happen again. John I understand what you are saying in your post, but to defend this young lady a little she is a high level player, but is now being asked to play on a high level varsity team at a very young age and is probably not accustomed to playing in front of that many people and got caught hearing something she shouldn't and knowing her, her father and her high school coach they will all learn from it and she will be a better player because of what happened.
Gunshy and everyone else I sent an email today to Sandy Searcy at the IHSAA and copied our AD on it asking them to consider implementing the ITB in the regular season and I would encourage all of you to do the same. You can find her email address at www.ihsaa.org or PM me and I will give it to anyone.
Getting a visiting team home after 11pm and then doing homework, shower and having to be at school the next day early and I am sure they probably have games again tonight considering the weather not to mention the wear and tear on the bodies of pitchers and catchers in that kind of affair is something that needs to be addressed. If enough people will take the time to send emails then maybe just maybe something that is in the best interest of the kids will get done.

43ft (Varsity level only) may help eliminate the 15 inning game as well.

As a follow up to the Avon/Noblesville game as the article says it best that Noblesville didn't have much in their game the following day against HSE and lost 8-4. I would like to see that game when both teams are fresh and see what the outcome is. Nothing against HSE, but it sounds like they got Noblesville on a good night, but who cares it all is a warm up till sectionals anyway right?
Killerbee I agree with your idea of 43ft however this may be a stretch for some of the weaker teams out there that already have pitchers that struggle from 40. I would prefer my dd to not have to go back to 40 during the high school season now that she is throwing at 43 full time in the fall and summer so maybe ITB would do the trick to end these marathon games sooner.
