Who are the top 10U teams for 2013-2014

Seems like everyone else is doing it..any early opinions as to who is going to be the best 10U team this season?

I would just have to guess the usual suspects for now. I expect these 3 to be strong out of the gate....

Does anyone know much about other teams? Extreme, Mafia, Zepheyrs etc?

Well slapperdad, I'm not sure what it means necessarily..but it is nice to know what is out there. Contrary to what must be your beliefs, not everyone uses this forum to degrade. My daughter is a 10u player and I am interested in knowing, who people that take part in this forum, believe will provide good competition for my daughter's team this upcoming season. We enjoy playing the best competition, we don't run from it, so it is nice to know everyone's opinion and then seek them out. And to be honest, it is interesting getting people's take on who is the best and who is upcoming..if you don't like knowing about teams then why are you on here?..oh, for the friendlies I bet..lol...Lastly, in the true spirit of competition..if you have a daughter or multiple children that play, don't you genuinely want to know where people consider the level of competition to be the best and if your children's organization is considered to be well coached and competitive? To take it even further, wouldn't you, if you are unsatisfied with the level of play within your child's organization, want to seek out an organization who the consensus believes to be a great organization? I'm not wanting people to rank players at ten years old..just have a healthy conversation about what is out there in 10u.

Very well put perspective, if I were to be asked. I enjoy reading everyone's opinions almost as much as I enjoy (my DD's team) beating Gators and Bulldogs in the same weekend.

Rather than "so what?", perhaps the question should be "then what?". What are you going to do to prove it...? Or to improve it...?

As a long time reader of this forum, it is always humorous to see the attention that the 10U threads get. My take is that at 10U it is not about the organization that your DD is playing in, but all about the coach. I want a coach who is concerned more about player skill development than wins. Who cares your record at 10U. (or batting avg, etc) It is about teaching the skills and the enjoyment of the game. Btw, listen to slapperdad, he has some insight to pass along. He's been through it.

It means exactly what it says, if you're the best 10U, 12U, 14U, 16U, 18U, or 23U team in Indiana, so what.

Anyone with any degree of sports sense knows what's out there. There's a whole world playing Softball. If you've been around sports at all, you have an idea, come on dude/dudette.

I've been posting on this forum for several years, show me a post where I degraded anyone. When someone says something stupid, I may be inclined to have a little fun, but I've never degraded anyone, called anyone names, said bad things about their mother or anything of the sort. For the record, I use this forum, as most forums for entertainment purposes only.

So your DD is so good as a 10U player you're worried about competition? Congrats, you're DD is way ahead of the curve. At the 10U level I was more concerned about my DD learning the game, learning fundamentals, and just having fun with the game she loved.

Once again, congrats, you guys are clearly ahead of the curve, I've always tried to shelter my kids and not allow them to get into situations where they might fail. You have to protect their delicate egos you know.

My philosophy has always been we play whoever shows up in the other dugout. I don't get caught up in all that who's this or who's that. I'm more concerned about how "we" play. If we do what we're suppose to do, it'll work out in the end.

To be honest, where my DD is now, level of competition was only a small consideration. While I will admit to making a few phone calls about the coach, I'm perfectly content with where she is, how competitive they are, etc. Again, all that "jazz" was a very small piece of the decision, which was completely her decision. I had very little to no input into it. She's the one that has to live with it not me.

I'm not big on letting other people do my thinking for me. A consensus of Americans put BHO in the White House, that's not working out so good for most of us. I'll make my own decisions.

Sure, and this thread will be 90 pages of pissing contest by next August. And there will be several really stupid comments made, to which I will be inclined to reply, for the entertainment of myself, and the handful of people who get it.

I never said anything of the sort. The bit about hiding my children under my skirt was a bit tongue and cheek. With regards to her college choice, the competition was a minuscule piece of the puzzle if it even entered the equation at all.

It does no team any justice to not seek out the best of it because win or lose, if you dont seek out the best competition, you will not gain insight to the game and improve your skills.

There's a balance. Taking a 10U league all-star team to a legit A tournament would serve no purpose. My kid played "B" ball thru 12U in Columbus, I don't think it harmed her development. Quite the contrary, I think the main thing was she had a little success and she HAD FUN. We were probably legitimately a lower tier A team in 12U, but we stayed in USSSA, played locally except nationals, kept the cost down, and focused on learning the game. We won a few tournaments and lost of few, honestly I have no idea what our record was or how many tournaments we won.

I am completely down with competition. In my DD's high school BB career, her sectional produced two state champions, a runner up, and one team that lost in the regional to the eventual runner up. If in that time there was a tougher sectional in the state, I'd like to see it. This is 4A as well, I've made the comment many times, I have no interest in seeing how she performs on a level playing field, lets play the best and see how it shakes out. She was fortunate enough to do that in BB during her high school career. Now, with regards to my DD, we're talking about a mature, scrappy, competitor, she was our Curt Rambis, less the glasses. She's no BB stud and she certainly wasn't on any colleges radar.

But as I said there is a point of diminishing returns. Playing the best when you can't compete with them really serves no purpose for anyone. In my opinion, there are more important goals in 10U than finding the best competition. The number one goal in my opinion is making sure that they're still playing in 12U.
