As the rest of us begin high school practice tomorrow keep the folks in southern Indiana in your thoughts and prayers. I spoke to Coach Schroeder of Henryville yesterday via email, she says all her kids are safe, but everyone is still in shock. Some have lost their homes, some have lost family members, they've all lost their school. Godspeed to the Hornets and all those affected by the Tornados this past week.

Amen Slap! Do they need gear? I'm pretty sure we could come up with what ever they need from the people we know and others in the SB family!

I have been wondering the same thing. I live in Charlestown (about 10 miles from Henryville), grew up in Marysville. It is just devastating to see what has happened to these small communities. My daughter plays at Charlestown and my husband is an assistant coach. If you find out there is anything we can do to help out any of these kids, please let us know.

The word I'm getting right now, is no clothes, they are swamped with clothes. They are in need of disposable personal items and cleaning supplies. Of course food and water. The Red Cross is of course a great organization, however if you want your money to go directly to the cause, donate to local churches, they are spearheading the relief effort. For instance: http://www.fbchenryville.com/ Many people lost purses and wallets and have no ID. The locals "know the lay of the land" so to speak.

I've stayed out of the area per instructions from authorities. However I was by there on I65 Saturday, it is devastation. Having witnessed this kind of stuff first hand in the past, rest assured TV does not do it justice.

You're right...Pictures and tv don't begin to compare to the reality. I haven't seen Henryville, but did see Marysville. These people need everything. Especially our prayers.

what about softball gear, i know it's early in the process. Those girls are going to want to have a season and i'm sure that's not the first thing on the families minds. When i was with the Dreams we sent a full trailer of bats, balls, uniforms, everything down to the New Orleans Voodoo after Katrina! I'm sure this isn't the most important thing right now, but it will be important to the girls soon enough.

I clearly remember when a tornado hit Nappanee. It is not something you forget and though ours was many years ago I will never forget how much it meant to see people reaching out a helping hand nor the sense of community developed as "we" all dealt with it together.

My heart and prayers go out to the people of Southern Indiana. Keep your eyes open and allow yourself to embrace the positive which can and will come out of such a negative circumstance.
