fall 2008 16u

by jag1 » Sun Sep 14, 2008 5:25 am

so which team will be the team to look out for at 16u this year..? I heard the Dreams (Lemming) looked really strong at the BSU tourney.....the Shockwaves white, Dreams '94, and Xplosion '93, should be the powerhouses, but what about some of the other teams..?

The Dreams had half of the Shockwaves93 team with them at BSU. Team Akadema went to BSU and played 5 18U teams, and went 4-1. Beating Homer Hawks Gold, Indy Crush 18u, and couple of other teams. The Dreams will be better this year than last. Not sure who the Shockwaves white are, but there is only one Shockwaves powerhouse, 93, the other Shockwaves couldn't hold a candle.

Dreams 94 - no pitching
Xplosion - not hardly

The top 16U teams - These top 5 could/will beat most 18u teams.

1. Shockwaves93
2. Diamond Chix (second year)
3. Team Akadema
4. Indy Gators (Lloyd)
5. Dreams (Leming)
6. Everyone else

ok, the Shockwaves '93 (formerly known as Shockwaves white) was the team I was referring to....it will be interesting to see how some of the 14u teams that are moving up to 16u compete. I think aside from the top 2-3 teams, the parity will be very close for the next 8-10 teams (including 4-5 teams that are moving up)...!

1.) Shockwaves '93
2.) Dreams (Lemming)

best of the rest..............
Diamond Chix
Xplosion '93
Indy Gators
Red Chix
Indiana Chaos
Indy Dreams '94
Indy Elite
Ft. Wayne Fire '93
Indiana Pride
Indiana Inferno 16u
CG Wizards

I think the Explosion team moving up from 14u will be very competitive and surprise some current 16u teams. I am not sure about any others. It seams every one is looking for a pitcher. I think teams need at least 2 strong pitchers to be competitive and from what I see teams just do not have enough pitching depth. It looks like there are 4 or 5 top teams and the rest are wanna bees.

In early Oct, the Shockwaves93, Akadema, and the Dreams(lemming), and someone else are having a roundrobin, that should give an indication who's who. That would be fun to watch. The 14u's moving up will scruggle against the better 16u's. I know Akadema scrimmaged a 1st year 16u that won several tournaments and placed well at nationals last year, and beat them 14-0 in a controlled scrimmage or else it could have been worse. 93 will be very tough to beat at the 16 level. Very good team, very well coached, they picked up a couple of nice players also. Still will have to wait see what Lemming has.

I wouldn't rank any first year 16u over the 2nd years.

Who are the Xplosion 93', is that a first year team? Cause there wasn't any 16u Xplosion last year at any of the A tournaments.

The Xplosion 93 is a first year 16u team. They are a well coached team that just keeps getting better and better. Whether or not they can compete with the big guns at this level will remain to be seen.
Any one heard anything about a new Team Indiana team playing at 16u?

Indy Dreams had 2 players from the shockwaves! They will be good! Dreams 94 has one of the better pitchers in the state! Still young, but very good!! Got them an NSA title last summer at 14!

It should be noted that 14u NSA title was with four of the Shockwaves '93 best players, playing with the Dreams '94. Personally I think that's a bunch of horsecrap......but, whatever it takes to feed the egos of some coaches and their programs....! ...........I could care less if anyone disagrees, that's my two cents for what it's worth..!
