This is the first year we have gone to try outs. It was very interesting.
Our team from last year, first year start up team, decided not to field a team this season and since playing last year gave us the "travel ball" bug we hit the try out circuits.
For the most part the tryouts were very similar with the same drills and test. All seemed very organized. I would say the difference was mostly the coaches. You could get a good feel for individual coaching style by observing tryouts.
We planned on attending eight try outs and where hoping to make one of the teams.......we ended up only trying out for four before a team she really liked offered her a position the night of tryouts. Once she said yes we no longer needed to go to the other three try outs we had scheduled. This team was the only team which called a few girls over individually after the try out to offer positions. All the other teams you had to wait. I really like knowing right away.
The thing which surprised me the most was that we made each team for which we tried out. After playing only one year and being on a team playing B but probably more at the All star (c) level we didn't expect to have so many choices. We thought we would just have to join whichever team was willing to take her.
