teams getting started

Alot of high school teams have started open gyms. What teams are looking good for next season as far as returning alot of talent in your areas?

I think Franklin Central should pretty good this year. They only lost 2 defensive starters off last years team. All their big bats are coming back. Four girls had at least 4 home runs each, 7 with at least 13 RBI (4 over 19). They have 2 really good Junior pitchers, a good Senior pitcher, and a Sophmore that looks pretty good too. The defense struggled quite a bit last year, but if the Juniors get more pitching time this year they could make some noise.

I know quite a few of the teams that advanced to semistate in 4a return a bunch of players. I went to the CG semistate and Jennings County, Greenfield-Central, and Terre Haute North were all loader with younger players. I also think that CG returns quite a few from there team. Should be interesting to see how the PH/AH team does this year. Not too sure about the teams up North

FC should make noise every year!! But they don't! Why? Look in the dugout! They better do something in the next 2 years! When this junior class leaves there is nothing left for ALONG time!!

The only player Jennings County lost of note was a four year starting catcher/lead off hitter. I think they can replace her defensively, but they will struggle to replace her bat. In my opinion Jennings County's Achilles heel could be their offense. They lost 2-0 to Terre Haute North in the CG SS final. While I didn't think THN's pitching was dominating, I thought they had a great game plan. Jennings County never did adjust.

Lastly the rich just keep getting richer, Jennings County with an already solid pitching staff of three pitchers, has a freshman coming in who will challenge their ace for pitching time.

This is a team that has the talent to be there at the end.

Actually, FC's 8th grade class this year down to the 5th grade class is absolutely loaded with talent! Obviously kid's change a lot as they mature, they lose interest, move to different activities, etc. However I would put Franklin Township's 5th through 8th graders up against any other 5th - 8th graders throughout the state. If those kid's keep developing and stay in the FC school district, even "you know who" as head coach over there could make a run at state for a couple of years in a row when those kids are in high school.

McCutcheon graduated only one starting senior last year, but Megan Gray's bat will be missed. Tamlyn Poore is positioned to pick up the slack. Entire pitching staff returns and hopes to improve. Harrison graduated Brooke Jordan, and their returning pitching staff is lacking. Look for McCutcheon to win the sectional this year... and probably next year too.

I know a couple of those kids.....well their parents. According to their parents, FC isn't even being considered.

Lake Central finished 3rd in State last year and they only lost 4 seniors. Most folks don't realize that due to injury, etc, most of their infield the entire year last year was played by Freshman and Sophomores, including their main pitcher, who is now only a junior!

FCs 8th grade class has a lot of talent. It should be interesting to see how they progress and see who continues to play. Last year as 7th graders they won every game but one against both 7th and 8th grade teams and were beating teams by 12 runs or more.
