Final 16U Sportzone Tourney before Highschool season

Enjoyed watching the many excellent 16U teams play this weekend in their final tourney/indoor practice before the start of the high school season. Congrats Indy Dreams 14U on the win. Good luck and good health to all the girls in their high school seasons before resuming travel ball in June.

Who were the final 4 teams? Congrats to Tony.

There were 23 teams, including Dreams 94 (Reese), Indiana Explosion, 2 Shockwaves teams (Ramsey and Harper), the Diamond Chix, two Indiana Gators teams, etc. and a good team from Wisconsin, the Kenosha Lighting, that knocked out the 94 Dreams team.

The final four: Ramsey's Shockwaves beat the Indy Edge 3-2.
Montgomery's Dreams beat the Indiana Gators 1-0.

Montgomery's Dreams beat Ramsey's Shockwaves 6-0.

The Dreams did not give up any runs in their 4 tournament games.

I watched a lot of great teams playing softball in the zone this weekend it seems like people like to post a win/loss record if they do well but just call it sportzone softball when they dont do well. I think it serves a great purpose getting teams up to speed and giving the kids some competition but its nice to see all the arm chair coaches with idea's .

Congratulations to The Dreams on the Win... Sportzone softball or not that is still a Great accomplishment for a 14U Team... Sounds like there were some Great Teams there wish I coud have been there to watch some of these Games... Good luck to all of these teams in the Future...

I agree with Mark as far as the Sportszone, it's good to see some live pitching, but that's about it..! Alot of those 16u's were at about half-strength, with players missing and participating in other sports. ..and approaching the games for what it is...a scrimmage..!

I agree, we have been playing Sportzone for practice as well. What cracks me up is every time we have played there are a couple teams bringing in studs to help just for the weekend trying to make sure they win. I have seen a team bring a girl from Louisville and still did not Win. The whole point is to use it as practice with the girls on your roster and see what you need to improve not try and stack you team for a weekend so you can win a Sportzone tourney.


Wether these teams were at full strength or not Tony still has a great team that will compete at 16U.

there are definitely some competitive teams that are playing up........didn't mean to take anything away from those kids and teams..!

JMHO, but I have to say between the new field turf and the number/quality of teams participating in this tournament, this was the best one I have even seen at this facility.

If they could pull this many teams together each time and stop trying to squeeze in multiple age groups in the same weekend, they could actually make winter ball here worthwhile.

A girl on DD's team ripped one over the top of the blue screen that gets used for 7 on 7 and it landed in the middle of the batting cages. That one would have gone yard on any field inside or out. So mush ball is not that bad to deal with.
