College now losing $$$/ who drops SB first

State colleges are now going to have to cut big $$, most are D1! ISU,IU,PU,BSU,IUPUI, and so on. Who drops our("girls") sport first? Than what will you do? Keep going or hang it up?

So many factors there:
- Title IX issues
- If they need to cut "big" money, softball is one of the last on the list.
- Bad news is we are not even close to being self sufficient. (most schools)
- Other states are dealing with the same issues and rectifying or relieving part of the issue by decreasing days of travel and playing more double headers
- If they are fully funded, can they drop down to less scholarships without affecting Title IX?

I don't live in your state, but there are so many opportunities to play some level of college ball. I hope leaving the sport would not be an option. It was 70 here today, wink, wink

Curious where Softball is on the list of $$ granted / budgets of various women's sports,,, volleyball, soccer, track & field, etc.

What sports get the most money, which if any generate income?

Thanks for the 70 degrees!! It's 30 and about to start raining! Having been to many D1 games aroung here, don't really see the $$! Would think it's better than some other sports!!

Purdue Athletics (WL Campus anyway) are self-supported so these cuts do not directly affect the budgets for any of the teams, including softball. I'm not sure how many other state schools fall into this category though.

Don't think you need to sweat to much...D1 schools have 20 -25 sports budgeted for men and women..some more women than men...

With Basketball and Softball being the top 2 generally on the womens side...

I think they will be OK...don't know if it's the same with smaller schools ?

I have heard that most of the bigger D1 programs are self-funded.......the smaller public D1 teams may have reason to be concerned..?

What I have heard that if sports is affected it's going to be the club sports that are funded from the college's general fund as a student activity. I can't imagine that will net much tho.
