my dislike for travel ball compared to high school ball

Yeah, I do it for the extra few dollars! Lets see I work with my girls starting in aug-dec on weight training and core training. We do workouts in the winter twice a week. I dont work with them for about 2-3 months out of the year. Dont think I get paid any extra for the 6 months I work with them out of season but I may have to look to be sure.

I said "almost that time". It'll be here before we know it.

Your statement contradicts itself by saying, you only mess with the good players and wont take the time to make your bad ones better. Son that is what I have to do and what HIGH SCHOOL ball is all about. Maiking a competitive team with what you have. I cant be like these travel teams and go out and have tryouts for a position because one of my players isnt what I thought they were to begin with. At the same time if I personally think there is something that one of my travel ball players could do better it is my job to tell them and coach them.

SON, there is no contradiction. I am only going by what you have said. You don't have tryouts as you stated because you can't. Not because you wouldn't. There is a difference so don't act like "even if you could, you wouldn't".

I have been blessed with some very good ball players, but usually the only ones I have had that have egos are the ones that play upper level travel ball. I have done it with rec ball players and travel ball players buying into what we want to do and having goals they want to work at together.

Who ever heard of a TB player nodding their head at the coach and saying, “OK coach” and then doing what is really suppose to be done. I mean, it's not like they have been coached from a young age to do the things that need to be done and at the same time make the coach happy.

You find me one kid that would rather win a state title for their community and with their friends, or one that would like to win a big summer tourney that 25 people are there to watch. I completely understand the benefit of travel ball and urge all my girls to play at the highest level they can. All you hear are travel ball coaches saying "they are getting these scholarships because of playing with us." I wouldnt disagree that this is where the girls are being seen, but at the same point WE are the ones staying on them about their grades so that colleges will look at them.

It's true! That is where they get the scholarships so where are they going wrong. Oh yea, they just shouldn't say it to you and your ego. As for the grades, I'm sure the girl's parents play a small role in that or do you give them as much credit as the TB coaches? As for the state title, well that is the one part that I absolutely agree with you on. That part is fun.

Someone needs to blow up this thread, as its useful life has ended. Almost everyone on here is painting with too broad a brush. It doesn't matter what the occupation, some people are going to be aggressive, energetic workers and others are going to punch the clock and expect a paycheck. Coaching softball is no different, as there are good HS coaches/crappy HS coaches, excellent TB coaches/overblown ego TB coaches, good parents/clueless parents, etc. Generalities don't work relative to HS/TB and are counterproductively insulting to everyone.
You simply cannot categorize all coaches, Travel or HS, as having the same traits. Give it a break, let's talk about something else!

Nobody's forcing you to participate.

Nor is anyone categorizing all coaches as having the same traits. We are discussing the narrow category of high school coaches who feel entitled and/or compelled to "fix" the mechanics of their most productive players--players who are already receiving consistent, targeted instruction. If you interpret that as a broadside attack on all high school coaches and everything they do, that's on you.

OK it was all fun and games when it was banter, but if you want to get derogatory then your not worth the time it takes to crap. Maybe you could learn to read and look back read some of my stuff and also realize we were on the same page. Don't really need the personal insults and find it rather childish.
