You always have parents that dont want you to touch their daughters swing because they pay big money to go to an instructor. My arguement is this, one of my girls has been going to her instructor for 5 years. For her 4 years with me she never loaded her wrists properly...example knob of her bat always pointed out in front of the plate. Without loading your wrists can cost you a tremendous amount of bat speed and power. The kid still hit in the low. 400's every year. She got away with it because she can put the bat on the ball and todays bats are rocket launchers. When you say a suggestion to a parent that this could help generate even more bat speed and power and they say..."well she is hitting .400 what do you want" what can you say? Not saying I know everything about hitting, but if I had a kid for 5 years and never said that to her once I think there is a problem.
Well you didn't touch a nerve so I guess it is that time of the month. “It's that time of the month” for a HS coach to start a thread called....my dislike for travel ball compared to high school ball. “It's almost that time of the month” for a HS coach to start taking the .400 and .500 hitters and instructing them how to hit better when it would make more sense to use that time on the .100 hitters and instruct them. “It's almost that time of the month” for HS coaches to work with the .600 hitters so that you can take a little, itty, bitty part of the credit for the success (because of their batting coach, mind you) that these hitters are having because you know there is not a chance that you have the knowledge/patience to actually take the .100 hitter and make them into even a .200 hitter consistently by the end high school.
I started out giving you the benefit of the doubt because I don't think that all HS coaches are idiots. Just the ones that will mess with the TB players that are making him/her look good through out the high school season instead of really concentrating on the weak spots. Which category do you fall in? I am far from the middle of the road on this issue because I look at who is benefiting the most from the other. TB from HS or HS from TB? That's a no brainer. I do look at HS coaches with an open mind from the start and then base my opinion on them from what they say and do and how they approach the game.
