When I played I used a rotatioal type swing, however I got linear when I was behind in the count, or the pitcher was a little faster than most. I don't want to put words in your mouth, but are you trying to say that because Michele Smith says something on a video that you disagree with, she isn't worth listening to? I hope that's not the case. I'm not going over Michele Smith hitting tape, and anaylizing each section, I can only tell you that if she hit that way it must have worked for her. Mechele is not only one of this countries best all-time pro, olympic, and college pitchers she is also one of the best hitters. Maybe you know a hitting coach around Indiana you think is better than Machele Smith, and maybe you do, I can only say that as far as the softball swing goes, that would be hard to do. Again, back to the original discussion topic. Video anaysis, DVD's, youtube, live streaming, ect. It's simply part of the modern world and should be a big part of any successful softball program.

Please apologize to your English teachers and learn to use paragraphs. You lost me at "Mechele". Never heard of her.

There it is, I knew it was coming.

FPD05 may have misunderstood whom/what you were referring to as being the best forever. Was it the people or their current tapes?

I wouldn't trust Mr House's instruction anymore!!

Tom House's instruction has changed because he now understands the mechanics better due to advancements in technology (e.g. computerized tracking and modeling). I think he's a good example of instructors improving over time and consequently their latest materials are better than earlier ones.

Ok, maybe referencing the rule of three writing technique didn't go over well......I was hoping to get through this just poking fun.

I will go back to the OP and say that the key word you used as it relates to improving in the softball world via instruction is....desire.

I have one kid that prefers the one-on-one and it has helped her tremendously. My other kid loves the videos, but doesn't take to the one-on-one.

The former is doing exceptionally well and the latter is having fun, but not improving as much. I think either way works if the player has the desire to improve. The good news is you put out an idea that got people talking. I still would have rather goofed off though.......
