It would be worse if a plate umpire tried to overrule the base umpire given they have no authority to do so.

During the championship game at CG TI and edge '98. Tied game 2-2 count 2 outs. Foul tip on bunt. Plate ump calls out, ,,,,but wait the coach wants an appeal. Field ump says no fouldtip and batter is alive. Next pitch goes to deep left and changes the entire game...not the outcome as TI still wins but it did go to 2 extra innings. ....I have no issue with an appeal, but does the field ump really need to overrule that?....anyway

TI "minton" belongs in the conversation I believe. Will know more after this coming weekend at Brownsburg ////edge gold is in the same pool. Should be interesting. Didnt get to see chix much as they were in the 14b at cg and edge 97 was in 14a. I do hope to get to see the blast 97 soon.

If the count was 2-2 and a bunted foul tip was originally the call, am I OK to assume that she offered? If so, foul tip or not that would be strike 3. So I guess I have to ask...did she offer? Also, hard to imagine that a field ump would have authority to overrule on that. Any help from our friends in blue on this??

As for Edge Gold, I have not seen them but it is my understanding they are a 3rd Edge 12U team. I have know idea where they fall in the pecking order with Edge 97 and 98. Should be a solid tournament this weekend. Looking forward to it.

Edge 98 had a fantastic tournament this past weekend. Nice pitching acquisition last week that will really help them. They had an exciting run to the championship game to say the least.

There is no "authority" granted to either umpire. Typically the PU is looked at as the head guy, the white hat in our parlance and thus I guess would have final say*. Overrule is a strong word. Maybe the BU saw something the PU didn't see. As an official I want the call right, lets get together and talk about what we saw and make a judgement based on input from both of us. We all make bonehead mistakes, just try and add in a little pinch of common sense and you can usually make the best of it.

*In my almost 30 years as an official in multiple sports, I would say less than five times I've been in a situation where I've had more than 1 guy adamant that he saw something different than what was called. I can recall two situations where there was strong disagreement between two or more of us. In both instances I was the one who made the call and I had someone from out of position come up with something else. Once it was an idiot official, who just simply didn't know what he was doing, I never worked with him again and he got a right proper dressing down when we got in private. The other instance was an official who was just looking for something to call. Two years later he's still trying to sell me on that call and I'm still not buying it.
Every man lives by a code:
1.Always look cool
2.Never get lost
3.If you get lost, look cool

Indy Diamond Chix won the 14b @ CG last weekend...
Edge '97 did not place in the 14A @ Cg
Team Indiana won the 12A CG

The edge 98 got hot down there and made a good run in the finals but got beat in 2 extra innings

This weekend @ brownsburg My wife overhead that Team Indiana is the team to beat out of the 16 that are there. I think Blast 97 is playing 14u there this is weekend..Hope to get to watch them some.
