Can baseball players have softball swings?

I must admit I did want to see what kind of response I would get. I had been reading joe's post on another page and actually wanted to see some debate about softball than just BS.

I will say the baseball swing I have seen that I don't agree with doesn't look like Albert's at all. The shoulder drops the bat is at a much different angle than that as well. The swing is more of an up swing, than out and up. The girls i have seen with this swing don't hit with any consistency. I will say the conversations will make me watch even more.

No, I didn't read it on the Internet and take it as gospel, and I do like, read, and watch a lot of what Mike Chandrea and Sue Enquist have to say.

A few options that people I know have went and given positive feedback. Go to two or three and find your best fit. Also, need to decide if you want private or group. Pricewise, I think Mark is $25perhr, Cara is $30, Lorenzo $40 or $50 I think, and Joe $30. I'm going by memory on prices so check first, but they are close.

Lorenzo is at The Sandlot in the Ft. Harrison area, just off Post Road.

Lorenzo is $20 or $25 per hour, depending on which location he is at. He's not doing SportsZone anymore, only Sand Lot and a private facility on the south side.

Keep in mind that a lot of these instructors teach different styles of hitting. The names mentioned so far vary anywhere from linear, to hybrid, to fully rotational. What works great for one girl may not work at all for the next.

DLauck I couldnt help but ask a few questions after reading your post about the list of hitting instructors. I almost thought you were directly slamming all of these people and I cant help but ask all those players you have that hit or the players you face that hit do you think they walk out of tee ball and can just hit or do you think they have been going to these hitting gurus you are talking about?

I found it kinda funny you would start slamming people for what they teach when you directly benefit from these people and the kids they work with. I mean lets face it do you think your high school team wins because of your coaching or because these people you are slamming spend all year working with your players so you can coach for 3 months.

I would say most of the people listed on here spend years putting blood sweat and tears into this game so be careful Dont bite the hand that feeds you just food for thought.

Patches, that is a very good observation and voiced in a diplomatic tone. While I have great respect for DLAUCK and his team, this thought train is EXACTLY why there is often such a divide between high school and travel. Thinking thru this, in many years of coaching I have seen players struggle from time to time at the plate, but I have never had one of them say to me "man, I need to get into see my high school coach so he can fix my swing".

Good questions. My intentions weren't to slam anyone. This thread is about identifying hitting instructors for young players. I simply pointed out what parents could look for. You're correct, my tone was a little harsh after reading through it and my post will be removed.

DLauck thanks and I was not being ugly I just watch all these coaches year round and we fight each other on the field . I have learned a lot coaching against all these coaches and I really respect them for the time they put into this game for the kids . Good luck this season
