Who are the top 10U teams for 2012-13

Well folks the season is all but over minus a few states and national tournaments. So with everyone going different ways for nationals here is who I see as the top teams.

1. Mafia Red- Strong group of girls just now peaking should do well in Panama. USFA State Champs 64-19-2 for the year I believe I heard
2. Gators 02- Another strong group of girls. Curious to see how they do in Chattanooga Think they peaked early and teams caught up. 59-8 for the year I think
3. Terror- after this weekends performance putting gators in the loser bracket no doubt they belong up here
4-10 could be anyone they are all really close, Indy Crush, Red Alert, Xplosion 02, Hoosier Crush, Edge, Red Storm, Blaze, Zephyrs, Gators 03 team to watch out for next year,

We were all hoping for a good weekend of softball but Mother Nature sure cheated us out of that. Big tournaments coming up like state, Stingrays, and the various national tournaments. I hope to see Indiana softball at the top of the standings in all.

I do want to give props to all who prepared the fields at Center Grove for the USFA Summer Sizzle after the flooding Saturday. They worked hard and had the fields playable only to get about 30 minutes into the first games of the morning and have it start all over. Great effort.

FPDad - I agree 100%, Tim and his group did a great job getting things ready for Sunday morning, overall I believe week in and out (at the 10U level which is all I know) USFA is the best run organization in the state.

We were really looking forward to playing some of the great competition in CG this weekend, just wasn't meant to be.

Very proud of our Mafia Red girls, we have four '03 girls on our team and five '02's and without a doubt they finished their Indiana season as the best in the state. Were we there in the fall?nope, winter? nope, spring? close...summer? I say we are #1 without hesitation, some other great teams out there and I am not trying to take anything away from them, but our team hasn't lost a game in the last three tournaments and in those tournaments we competed against the "rest of the best".

I would make a few changes to your list if I were picking a team. I would have to give 1st Base to the Gators girl. I would take the CF from the Indy Crush. The Mafia shortstop gets my nod. Gobbles everything and is a pure hitter. I agree with the Gators girl at third but would go with the Indy Crush girl and the XPlosion's new pickup after her.

Gators have a couple good catchers and the Zephyrs catcher does a nice job but I think there is no doubt the Mafia catcher is tops. At pitcher the Gators ace is top but drop whichever of the next two you want as you have got to include the lefthander from Indy Crush on any top three pitcher lists.

We can't forget some of the girls from other teams too. There is alot of talent in the 10u this year in my opinion.

Way too hard to rank positions! I really really like the Red Storm catcher.

Sackett13, that is the other hard part about this. We never played the Red Storm so all of our opinions are only of the teams we were able to play. There are many teams out there we did not see and could possibly blow this list to the wind like a hanging curveball flying over the fence.

This ranking players is to hard at this age. But I can say there are several girls that excel more than others at certain positions. Ranking10u you are pretty close and fpdad00 you are right about ss from mafia she does gobble up everything. But each of us are entitled to our opinions. I like my 10 girls take them up against any team but hey I'm bias.

My opinion on player rankings:

Pitcher:
Gator Pitcher (location and speed are both good)
any of the other 3: Mafia, Terror, Crush (all 3 of these have great speed and good location)


First Base:
Mafia - haven't seen anyone close all year
Gator

2nd Base:
No idea

Shortstop:
Mafia/Explosion - both great athletes, know the game and always make the right play (Mafia girl is an 03)

3rd base:
Gators - very impressive
Mafia/Explosion/Crush - all do a great job

Catcher:
Blaze
Zephyrs
My kid is the Mafia catcher (and an 03 btw), those other two do a great job as well
Gators 03 has a good one, right attitude and skillset

Outfield:
Mafia has a great one that is an '03 and also plays some 2nd
Gators have some great ones
Crush has one that I remember

I am sure I left some off but these are the ones that stick out in my mind, don't take this to seriously at this age...no one has been offered a scholarship yet!

Good grief, how many of these kids will even be playing Softball in 6-7 years? I'm really glad I'm from another time.
