I am sure others will have more to say but this quote caught my eye. Since when is getting signed in some fashion to a Div 2 or NAIA school an insult? As a dad to a younger child I will be in seventh heaven if...
1. My daughter continues to love softball at 18 (I am sure boys and a driver's liscense could easily sway her love of softball)
2. My daughter gets into the college she wants
3. My daughter has a chance to play softball in college (if she wants to) at the college she wants
BONUS
4. That college agrees to help with some % of the financial burden of college.
Regarding the best 14U team, since you are just a older sibling wanting information...
Start with the big names (Dreams, Gators, Magic Gold, etc). There is/was a Crush 2000 team that was VERY good but I have no idea what is going on with that org anymore.

Why so angry all the time tbj?
Maybe you can start an internet union for all the little angry guys out there who don't get the respect they deserve.
SftbllLifer - you are pretty angry yourself. Instead of crying about slapperdad, you should really listen to what he has to say. It doesn't hurt to listen to your elders once in a while, especially the ones who have good advice...

If he posts something relevant to the conversation then I will. I also find it funny that I'm "angry" for making my points and calling out people who feel the need to "One Up" on a message board. I respect my elders sir, but what I don't respect is elders who think they command that respect regardless of their actions. Like I said if you want to post something relevant to the subject we can talk about it.

SftbllLifer wrote:Well when you take half of the the comment regarding scholarships it's really easy to not understand it. What I said right before about certain parents that are just out to prove how big of a superstar their kid is,
Assuming since you called me out by name, this is pointed at me, correct me if I'm wrong, but I don't think I've ever posted anything about my kid's prowess on the Softball field. In fact in most cases quite the opposite
Colleges like to refer to them as helicopter parents and top schools WILL NOT deal with them.
I was under the impression that helicopter parents were always hovering over their kids directing them, protecting them, micromanaging them. I was obviously wrong, I'll make a note of it.
Just a heads up.
Thanks, I appreciate the heads up.
I agree with you any scholarship is awesome and a great achievement.
Having two kids in college myself I'm down with any help I can get. You'll forgive me if I really don't care whether you believe it's an achievement or not.
That whole comment was directed at people like slapper dad and gold elite who feel the need to try and show people up on posts.
Surely you jest? I am attempting to show people up? You make a post about who the best 14U team is and most teams don't have full rosters yet, tryouts are still going on, deals are still being made, and you would have us believe that I'm showing you up?
Then they end up putting stuff up that is completely irrelevant to the subject.
I have to disagree here, my first response wast TOTALLY relevant to the subject.
I'm just letting it be known that I will call you out on your bs if you feel the need to post it.
I'll consider myself warned. You should also be warned, I've got plenty of BS. I suspect this is going to be an entertaining relationship, what with you being a BS caller outer and me being a BS'er.
To the SoCal people, the few times I've gotten to see good Cali competition, it's on a whole other level than here in Indiana for the most part so the only teams you've ever heard of from Indiana are Indy Magic Gold or Indy Dreams. Other than that nobody else stands a chance against California. Honestly.
I could be wrong, but didn't you just answer your own question, you know the OP in this thread?

GoldElite wrote:SftbllLifer wrote:So now that tryouts have pretty much rapped up, who will be the top teams in the state this year?
This topic is only appropriate in 12u. Now, I'm guessing your a parent of a 2001 player/team. So, how about you just tell us how great they were last year...and how they will be even stronger this year because of a couple of pickups.
And when your done with that, step back 3 more feet, relax, and enjoy the show.
This is what is known as sarcasm. To some, it is funny. To others, it is hurtful. I make no apologies for my use of sarcasm as it is my forte, if you will. The sarcasm in this post is really no different than the sarcasm in my screen name. What would you expect from someone who calls themselves "GoldElite"?
SftbllLifer wrote:Well you are wrong I am not a parent. I assume this is a good thing. My mistake. Dang, it would have great if my assumption was correct.
I have younger sisters who play softball religiously and this is one of the divisions I don't know anything about
Mark this statement for later in the post
I was always into following them whenever I could despite my own sports commitments and last time I checked this is a message board.
Completely irrelevant, but okay
The fact that some of you think you are "veterans" of a message board is hilarious to me.
I guess we each could have our own definition of veteran. Me, definitely not. Slapper...I would say absolutely
If you don't want to answer the question then fine. MOVE ALONG.
Here is the thing. There is no answer to this question. It is only opinion. And, you did originally ask for opinions. The problem with that is you typically need something to substantiate your opinions to make them really mean anything. By substantiate, I mean, like, supporting documentation. And, only being 2 weeks after the first tryouts, with hardly any practices, and probably zero games played, no one can really have anything of substance to support their opinion(s).
Now I do know A LOT of people who play in the age group but not a lot of teams.
See nowadays all you parents who think "my child is a SUPERSTAR" have watered down the associations so bad because you leave teams at the first sign of discomfort or the mere fact that you aren't the star of the team. If your first child is just now getting to this age group then you are the parents I'm talking to and probably the same ones who responded to this.
Please provide some sort of SUBSTANTIAL support for these comments. Truly, this could just be you lashing out at me by "projecting" you actions of which you might be familiar...look that up please.
You can't handle rejection and so you play for no name associations, who in the end have ZERO experience with colleges and can't get your daughter signed unless it's D-2(Maybe) but most likely NAIA.
I can assure you, I have zero intention of "getting my daughter signed'. If this happens, it will be something she has done on her own through her own hard work and effort. This is how I have raised her. The last thing I want is for my daughter to grow up believing she needs to depend on someone else. What kind of life would that be, really?
Now before you start making assumptions about how young I am. I promise I'm not so don't try to play that card,
Never once did the question of your age come to mind.
but again if you don't want to answer the question then go to another post where I'm sure your needless comments will be irrelevant there as well.
Again, there really is no answer to this. See my previous comment on opinions.
Have a nice day!
SftbllLifer wrote:Ok Slapperdad I'll give you one thing I grouped you in with Goldelite faster than I should have but the meme you posted was a post to "show up" my original comment because you thought it was a bad post in general.
Hey, what's the difference? A meme to"show up" or a "blunt comment" to show up....C'mon...don't let him off the hook so easily!!!!
Another thing how is gaining a scholarship to play a sport, which makes up 3% of the college students in America, not an achievement? Is that not what girls who play at the top level of competition strive for?
Ok, here is the part from the "marked" statement above. Seems you know a little more about 14u softball than you indicated in your original post. Or, maybe you don't and you are just making assumptions here...
Lastly no I did not answer my own question. I named the top 2 associations in Indiana that have competed against California. That doesn't mean that have the best teams all the time. Especially at 14U.
All the quoting was making everything pretty long so sorry if I skipped some things, but the last thing before I forget. All the teams that I know that are normally around the top of tournaments, that I've watched, are done with tryouts and have their teams for Fall/Spring set barring any parents who think they can do better.
Also helicopter parents are exactly what you described and what I stated. A parent who is always telling their kid who to listen to or what to do almost always falls under the category of "My child is a superstar and no one will tell me otherwise." So no you were not wrong and niether was I.
