Winners/Loser from tryouts

Daydreams, NOW you are getting there. Are there really organizations or just jersey sales?
I question whether it is even possible for a head/chief to know the intracies of 4-5 teams (in just 1 age group!) and make decisions that are in each team's best interests. No way. Teams can share basic ideas, training methods, etc, but that is about all that is feasible. Each team has different personalities, economies, attributes, drawbacks, etc that make them virtually impossible to guide from the outside looking in. What works great for one group will absolutely not work at all for another. Shifting gears, it has been discussed here that having a reputable team name helps get you in the top exposure tournaments........is there any exposure tournament that is going to accept 5 teams from the same organization? 4? Compuware turned my team down one year because they had already accepted our sister team. The groups that have "joined" a known organization still won't get in and , worse yet, if a tournament accepts 1 of the 5 that is not competitive, that tournament might not accept any team from that organization next year. By adding numbers of teams to organizations, are we really providing opportunity or just adding mud to the water? Are additional players participating in travel ball, or are we just consolidating existing teams?

All of these things are possibilities that could happen. This is my third year to help coach with the Gators. I happen to help coach one of the 16U teams. I can attest that Mark Lloyd knows what is going on with each of the teams. I can also tell you that Mark cares for each of the Gator Players. There are a few different reasons for so many teams. Some are due to the fact that a couple teams have not typically needed to hold try-outs. The whole team came back and that is what the parents and coaches wanted. Some is due to different age groups. (first year/vs second year) What I can tell you is that after helping with Try-Outs for the last 3 years, there are tons of girls that want to be Gator Softball Players. We don't force anyone to play for us. They all want to. For those that don't know, we do things that promote a solid organization. We host the Gator Classic where we will have Dot Richardson again; We have an end of the year pitch-in for all the players and families; We do food and clothing drives and we even award a scholorship to a deserving individual who is advancing to the collegiate level. There are many different travel teams out there and I can only assume that each one is there for the same reason. To work with these young ladies and help them to mature with softball and life in General. Good Luck and hopefully everyone will have a safe and enjoyable couple months before heading into indoor ball.
