Listen up sister...

If it wasn't for dads taking the reins... there would be no such thing as fastpitch softball. I've had decades of experience with idiots who stand up when they visit the restroom and the same with your so-called experts who have played the game. The fact is...good people is good people. Male or female...it's a parent's responsibility to seek out the the best for their child....and THAT has nothing to do with who wears a jock strap or a bra...

You could have expressed your opinion without being condescending towards her. How RUDE. It's funny how you boast of your decades of experience with idiots. Reminds me of the old saying, "it takes one to know one."

Thank you fastpitchfanatic!

I guess my point hit a nerve. These are the individuals I was referencing. The scary thing is that not only does he not understand "grammar" (re-read his reply) but at no time was I rude or claim to be anything more than a supporter of more woman trying their hand at coaching softball. All I was doing was trying to explain why more woman might not want to coach do to the fact some male coaches are intimidating, loud mouths that forget they are coaching young ladies. (Case in point) Instead of really reading the post he reads what he wants and does not pay attention to the details. Which include a compliment for many male coaches out there that understand coaching is not just about the sport.

I have been away for a long time, but this hits too close to home. My wife and I started a travel team some time back. My wife was a D1 four year starter from day 1. She will be the first to admit she doesn't know everything about the game, but having played at that level I would venture to guess she knows a lot more than a fair amount of the coaches out there. I will tell you why the majority of the players aren't paying back (men or women that are knowledgeable and qualified). It's the daddy you all speak of that if his kid doesn't play the position he wants he takes her somewhere else. It's the daddy that sits in the stands and doesn't have enough onions to ask why you put his daughter at the place he wants and instead criticizes not only your coaching moves, but even your humanly existence. It's the daddy that at tournaments that shops his kid out to other teams while your team is trying to win for 10 girls not one. These players you want to pay back that have played at the highest level with people that coach for a living, not just a weekend that continually are told you don't have clue that quite frankly just don't want to put up with the ignorance. Don't give me this crap about "dad's grabbing the reins". I am a dad and have tried to learn eveything possible about the game. I don't know eveything, but the frustrating part is when these dads go to one hitting lesson and suddenly become the next Epstein guru. These women don't want to pay it back because it would probably be more enjoyable to go through a root canal daily than to deal with the parents.

Don't be fooled.......mommys are every bit as bad as daddys; no sense in seperating problem parents by gender. Problem parental units are a problem whether they sit or stand....

very well said!!!!!!!!!!!!! I have no problem with a man or a woman coaching a fastpitch team. Lord knows that you don't have to have played the game to be a good coach. There are any number of male NCAA coaches who do an amazing job. (Candrea) It is also not just the dads who you speak of second guessing every move, it is also some moms. The problem is not dads or moms males or females. The problem is the massive number of coaches who act like they know everything and know nothing. The problem is the dads and moms who only coach so their dd can play that one position. The problem is the people who want to act like they have played fastpitch at the NCAA level, but you can't find them on any roster for that school from the years they were there. The problem is that too many people want to live the life they were not able to thru their dd. The problem is that too many people only care about themselves and their dd. There are many good coaches out there and usually they are easy to find. It is not always the team that is the most successful, but if you ask around and talk to enough people then they are easy to find. There are enough good ones out there for travel ball to continue to thrive. My advise to anyone looking for a team for their dd, who wants one of these coaches, is to ask everybody you can who has had contact with the coach. You will have some good and some bad, becuase let's face it noone can please everyone, and from that you can make an educated decision. The good ones will be easy to find!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Just do your homework and you may be supprised by what you find out!

Suzi...let me splain it real simple for ya...

Your "details" are flawed, biased, and just stupid. Your statement that "that irrate, loud, and harsh male coach" keeps females coaches away from the game is just as bad as me telling you to go back to your soap opera...

BTW...what's for dinner?

This is precisely why former players don't want to come back. To deal with this crap weekend after weekend. Why would someone who has achieved such a high level of success by being given a scholarship to play at a high level want to continually not only be condescending, but rather be as abusive as you are being. Make sure you get plenty of polish for all those trophies you get so they are pretty and shiny.

I also agree and stand corrected by the former posters: moms can definitely be just as bad as the dads. It seems to be a problem (parents in general) that is becoming more prevelant in Indiana year after year. Maybe I have just been oblivious to it up to this point.

Sally...don't fool yourself...

If lil' old Joe is keeping them away...they never came close to the "highest level". That...and I certainly don't want them out there teaching my DD...about softball, life or anything else. The best coaches I've run across, male or female...aren't itimidated by ink (or bandwidth)....or a loud mouth parent.

As for my trophies...I've thrown them all away. Now, I just keep skins on the wall for all the snowflakes I've pissed off...

Priceless. Derogatory and stupid. I'm sure any snowflakes talking with you would not be pissed as they would probably feel you were undermatched. Call me when you know what it means to work for something or play at a high level, instead of insutling former players trying to give back which is classless. You probably feel threatened by these former players as heaven forbid they might be a positive role model for DD. You'll be the guy that continually questions every move your DD's college coach makes.
