Wondering About Tournament Results

So between your response and my previous information; my uderstanding is as follows for 16A:

3 Registration berths available - 1 used by Shockwaves 93 and 2 remaining to be awarded at "State Games" and "State Tournament"

0 Regional Qualifier berths available

1 National Qualifier berth available - used by Dreams-Reese, so 0 remaining

Is this correct?

You are correct with 1 exception. We actually have 4 registration berths this year, so 2 will be awarded this weekend at the State Games and 1 will be awarded at the State Tournament for both the 16U and 18U.

Lotsa different "national tournaments" each summer (NSA, ASA, AFA, etc). However, i think that probably the fewest number of teams attend the ASA/USA Nationals because I believe there are such a few number of bids available to win each year. Appears only 5 IN teams can go in 16U and I think about the same number in both 14U and 18u.

They only take the best they can with registration numbers. Everybody says they are playing an all ASA schedule, but you have 30+ teams at the USFA State??!!?? They all missed a chance to go to the best nationals there is! 2-3 hundred college coaches?? Why play for a trophy? That ended at 12U, or should have! 19 Indiana teams at DOS and half aren't going to college station. People need to wake up! If your kid is still playing at 16U, going to Florida is not going to get her to college(for softball)!All the other sanctioning body are good at 10U,12U, and maybe 14U! Family friendy and all together. After that you need to step out and see what you've got! At ASA you have the same teams playing on Sunday and they will be the ones you hear about the girls going to college on a ride(or half)!! This past weekend you have the Waves, Magic,Dreams, FTW Fire! You will see them from here on out! Everybody else needs to step up!

You sound like a typical internet softball expert. Probably never been to a usa/asa nationals, but you did read about it once. Do you really believe that is the only way to be recruited??!!
You answered your own question. The same teams will be there on Sundays, so why would the USFA/usssa/nsa teams want to come. Common sense is allowed. The only teams I see advertising about all ASA schedule (Waves, Fire, Akadema, Dreams, Magic gold) were actually the teams playing at noon on Sunday!!!!

Sidd, This year will be our 5th consecutive season for playing USA/ASA Nationals. You are correct, in that this is not the ONLY avenue for kids to get a look or get recruited AND ASA is not for everyone. We have played ASA Nationals at 12u, 14u and now 3 years at 16u and I can tell you that 12's and 14's have minimal recruiting value. What playing ASA at those age groups does give you is a resume that will get your team into the the big exposure tournaments where you have to apply for a very limited number of openings. These are the events that offer enhanced exposure to college coaches and top-flite competition to really gauge your game.
I can tell you that no one really cared that my team won NSA Nationals 4 years in a row, which is a great accomplishment, but eye brows raised when we finished 7th in ASA Nationals at 12u. Having a resume of solid ASA finishes has helped get us into virtually every big time tournament we have applied, and consequently given my players maximum exposure to college coaches. The 16u ASA Nationals is, by itself, the largest gathering of college coaches that I have seen, followed by the Independence Tournament in Bouder, Co where we play next week. These are not the only ways to be seen and just going doesn't get you a ride, but having a personal resume of playing these events does mean something to coaches looking at players.
I agree with Looking In about teams advertising an ASA schedule during the try out silly season; many teams advertise just that and promise things they have little chance of delivering in trying to get players to change teams, even though they have never been to ASA or any of the big time events they claim to be attending.

Been to ASA nationals since 12U in bloomington! No, it's not the only way to get seen,but it's the best way! My point is the teams that say we're playing all ASA and exposure and end up going to USFA! 32 16U teams?? Who the heck are they? Oh, i am no expert either

Sorry I missed you at the Premier tourney. I noticed someone behind the dugout but didn't recognize you until my daughter told me that she talked to you. We almost had to bring in Morgan if we had to play on Sunday. Kaitlyn is trying your idea for her finger. Of course, we have to make fun of her. We also got an idea from Alabama's coach. We are going to get the stuff tomorrow. We will tell you about it this weekend.

Looking forward to this weekend. It should be fun at the North-South game.

I just checked out the rosters on hoosierauthority.com for the game and you are right it should be a blast. I know the DD is extremely excited to actually be on the same team with so many kids she has played against for many years and reunite with some old travel teammates as well.
How much fun would it be to make out a line up card with that talent at your disposal.......

Hope the preparation H works as well on her finger as it did Morgan's. Shrunk the wound in 3 days.
